Right, it is so flabby and vile that something has to be done. Feeling well enough to start doing situps etc now.

Who wants to join me?

And who knows some good pilates style exercises that I can do?

OP posts:

meeeeeeee

I'm a lardy jelly belly too. baby excuse is wearing thin - he's six months now and I've still not broken into a run or done one sit up

gemilou · 21/04/2004 22:35

hooray I did my 40 situps today, not easy for a jelly belly

tammybear · 21/04/2004 23:03

Oooo I wanna join! I want to tone up my tummy, as Iv only ever been in a bikini once which was May 02, and thats when I found out I was pregnant!! I want my old tummy back!! So is it just doing 40 sit ups a day?

wintye · 22/04/2004 02:02

Can I join in too and can I use an ab-roller for my sit ups. I have found that it works and it makes them a lot easier.

GreySquirrel · 22/04/2004 11:05

can i join too? have just done 40 to start off, but this is a silly question but how do you do them? is it cheating to have legs bent or tucked under sofa to help? I find doing them just flat on the floor very difficult.. I have had two ceasereans which doesn't help but means it is all the more important (i have been doing ten a day for quite a while sounds wimpy now!)

tammybear · 22/04/2004 11:57

I find it easier sticking my legs up on the sofa and doing it, but I dunno if that's cheating. I hope not cos i can do it that way

moosh · 22/04/2004 11:58

Can I join too. DS2 is now 8 weeks and have started my exersise plan to get into shape for the Summer. I NEED TO FIT BACK INTO ALL THOSE BEAUTIFUL SUMMER CLOTHES I WORE ONCE, MANY MOONS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am rather feeble I can only do about 15-20 so if I split, do 20 in a.m and 20 at p.m. I should just about hang in there with my other exersises and my exersise bike. I haven't a huge overhang but I am sure I could tuck the flabby bit into the top of my knickers!!!!!! Shall inform of my progress, (if any).

kiwisbird · 22/04/2004 12:06

holy moly, been doing that pilates one mentioned for 2-3 days, already noticing a difference, I do it almost all day in bits and bobs, it is working I can so feel it!
whats best diet for losing half a stone by the way?

soyabean · 22/04/2004 14:55

I think I will join in too. last time I kind of fizzled out, perhas when I was trying to wean myself off Mumsnet. Willpower no good there, will it be any different for this I wonder. My tummy really is huge and when trousers all seem to be low cut and tops all too short, and its not winter so I cant wear a vest, its really not a pretty sight.
Also, must do somethig about munching my way through 'family packs' of choc biscuits that the rest of the family know nothing about. etc etc

soyabean · 22/04/2004 14:59

omg, just did 30. that will have to do for now.I'll do the other ten later.

suzywong · 22/04/2004 15:05

this is a great thread
just done 20 pelvic tilts, 10 sit ups and losts of navel sucking in
Though still look like deflated spacehopper, is this normal?

allatsea · 22/04/2004 15:05

i'm in, dreaming of when i went in at the waist rather than out!

kiwisbird · 22/04/2004 15:13

ive just started doing those ones like proper sit ups as well with feet under the settee??(who needs a pain free back when you can have a flat tummy instead)

tammybear · 22/04/2004 20:08

Lol, Ive done my other 20. My bf thinks Im stupid for doing this and wont keep to it but ill prove him wrong!!!!!!!

Browbeaten · 22/04/2004 20:30

I did 40+ yesterday and using an ab roller today 75. Probably won't be able to stand upright tomorrow.

gemilou · 22/04/2004 22:03

Ive actually done my sit ups 2 days in a row... I might just be able to stick to this

batgirl · 22/04/2004 23:14

Can I join in please? I'm a bit of a newbie on Mumsnet - but I do have a v flabby stomach (if that's a qualification!)

tammybear · 23/04/2004 21:55

My back is killing me after I do the sit ups. Am I doing them wrong? How is everyone else doing them? Ive never been any good at sit ups, or exercises for that matter!!

moosh · 27/04/2004 13:03

Doing well at the mo, still doing 20 in the morning and 20 before bed. Feel really unfit as am in agony doing the last 5 or so. wish I had this much enthusiasm when doing my pelvic floors!!! Did my post natal exersises on Friday and the midwife/instructor said my abdominal gap had closed. Really pleased after child number 2.Bum toning well on the exersise bike, keep it up everyone!!!!!

I am! Have also joined ww online to try and shirt the half to one stone I'd like off.
I am noticing a bagginess in my jeans too which is terrific but can't "see" it in the mirror IYKWIM
Only do 20 full sit ups 2 x a day and lots of those pilates ones whenever I remember!

spacemonkey · 07/05/2004 10:16

Hello, can I join in?

I am very proud of myself because I went to the gym for the first time ever this week - I was absolutely terrified!

But - it was really good (especially the sauna and turkish bath afterwards)
