I really have to lose weight in 2015!

I have steadily gained weight since having my two DCs, and am as heavy as I've ever been, and will no doubt be a bit heavier still after Christmas.

I successfully lost 2.5st before conceiving DD (I have PCOS so it was essential and that spurred me on). I lost the weight after I had her, but then put some back on, had DS and am always just so busy and tired that my diet is horrendous. I work FT and that doesn't help matters.

My DM is really ill with advanced cancer, so I've been putting it all to the back of my mind and eating and boozing too much. This has to stop.

I have tipped over into obesity. My waist is non-existent and I know that's a big health no-no. It has to be addressed as soon as Christmas is out of the way.

Can anybody inspire me? I don't really want to do anything that isn't 'easy' in the sense that cereal is easy in the morning (so low-carbing is probably out) and I can't fast as I teach some really difficult classes and need to feel strong and energised.

I'm thinking of either WW or MFP. I really don't fancy SW as it seems so dull.

I originally lost over a stone by Paul McKenna and taking up running.

I tried the 5:2, but never had the willpower to manage more than one FD (fast day) a week, but I did lose another half a stone or so.

Then I hurt my knee running and had a job I was miserable in which led me to no exercise (was a desk job) and eating too much cake. Therefore resulting in gaining 1.5 stone in 8 months.

I left the job in October and joined a gym with really good exercise classes (Kettlebells and Metafit are my favourites) and stopped snacking. I lost 10lbs since and have put on 2 lbs in the last 10 days or so (so 8lbs lost now), but our house is now full of chocolates and cake (not helped by the fact that it is DD1's birthday on Christmas day so birthday cake as well) which needs to be eaten. Come next week when the DCs are back at school and life can start to get into a routine again I can start again with the gym and better eating (after all, the cake will all be gone)

I also plan to restart the 5:2 once I have a job. Ive got no chance when Im at home as DH is another of my biggest problems to losing weight. He does the cooking and is a bit Hmm at the idea of 500 calories on a day. He also gives me far too large portions even though Ive told him not to, but once its on my plate I find it harder to leave some if it wasn't on the plate in the first place. I need to be more hard on him and be more forceful.

I think the biggest barrier to losing weight is in the mindset. You have to be truly in the right frame of mind and want to lose weight. Ive kind of lost that this week, but Im hoping once I get back into the gym I can find it again. I always find it easier to eat less if I am taking regular exercise.

I never intend to try the low carb as not only do I like pasta and potato too much, but I know it wouldn't be something I could do forever and once you start eating them again you put on more weight. Plus I like to give myself a day off every now and again and that is not an option on the low carb plan as far as Im aware. Its too strict for my liking. Can see how it could work for other people.

Im not a fan of MFP for 2 reasons. Logging all the food is a bit of a faff and with DH cooking I never know any weights or measurements to be able to do it properly.

Sorry for the ramble, I just wanted to add my thoughts and experiences. For me either following Paul McKenna or 5:2 appeal the most. Just need to get on with it and not let DH lead me astray too much (which TBF I do let him)
