Weight maintenance...help!

I've lost 82lb since January. I'm really proud of my achievement and still have about 10-14lb to go. Due to the fairly rapid reduction in my girth, I have been left with saggy, loose skin on my upper arms, thighs and stomach. I'd like to maintain my weight for a bit to see if the skin can adjust itself (I'm not expecting miracles but I'd prefer not to have the thighs of a 90-year-old in my thirties).

My main problem is I have no idea how to maintain the weight! What kind of calorie limit/exercise plan would help?

Thanks in advance for help/tips! Smile

P.S. I used MFP and the 30 day shred to lose most of the weight.

Wow, well done you! That is a huge achievement. Makes my loss seem like peanuts. But at least it's gone right??
How did you lose it?
Anyhow, I'm on myfitnesspal and have set the calorie limit to 1500. We use 2000 a day, so I ought to still lose, but at a slower rate. I log every bit of food I eat or drink and think before chucking junk in - I just love all kinds of food, I eat too much of everything! So having to 'account' helps me and I hope to get down another 20kilos eventually.

Thanks Hairylegs Smile

A lot of it was down to breastfeeding, sensible eating and exercise. I just wish I wasn't quite so wobbly still!

It's hard to keep the momentum going, isn't it?

can you google your bmr - basal metabolic rate - then add in how active you are as this should give you a daily calorie amount required for maintenance - there are plenty of sites online that will do this for you - then presumably you can put that calorie amount into mfp as your daily amount and see how that goes for you and if you need to adjust up or down, you can - I would give it a month. I lost 3 stone with WW but I use points still to maintain - almost 3 years now - although maintenance is trial and error and a pound or two fluctuation is quite normal. Well done and good luck

Thanks brunette - that's really helpful.

So my bmr is 1650-ish. I just need to stick to that and eat back any exercise calories?

the sites I have looked at tell you what your bmr is then they ask you how active you are and you have to multiply the bmr by another figure to maintain.

eg

www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

this says once you know your bmr you need to calculate your daily calorie needs - your bmr is what you need just to stay alive and for your body to function ie if you are just lying down - so you should work out your daily needs - use the above site is my suggestion - I am going to do mine shortly

Has your appetite reduced and are you eating according to that reduced appetite (ie eating when only hungry)? I've managed to maintain a 7 stone weightloss simply because my appetite has reduced significantly. I don't calorie control at all. But I do only eat when genuinely hungry.
