Leaf spinach doesn't mean 1 leaf of spinach Grin, it means a serving of leaf spinach.

I haven't lost a thing. Not in the first week, not in any week. fucking gained weight. I'm so pissed off with my stupid body.

You aren't eating enough, and you aren't eating enough carbs. Veg only at one meal isn't enough.

You also aren't eating enough fat.

How much water are you drinking?

BIWI · 24/09/2014 15:39

You're eating too much protein - protein, like carbs, can produce an insulin spike, which can lead to fat being laid down. Which is why you need to eat more fat.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/09/2014 15:42

What changes would you suggest? Like, an example of a day's menu? I do eat mayo with my lunch.
Probably not enough water, will change that.

OP posts:
BeattieBow · 24/09/2014 15:47

really? Can too much protein do that?

What is the right amount of protein/fat/carb in any meal?

Sorry OP I'm not hijacking, but I have exactly the same issues with low carb diets, and had never heard that you could have too much protein.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/09/2014 15:50

No apologies necessary Beattie! Sorry you're having issues as well.

It always worked for me before.

You need to be eating fat:protein:carbs.

Here's what I'd do with your day:

Breakfast
2 eggs
Sausage

Probably replace the sausage with bacon, as there will be fewer carbs, but also wouldn't have this everyday because it's processed. Eggs on their own are fine. How about some mushrooms with them?

Lunch
Few slices ham

Again, processed meat. Try going for some cooked chicken, or tuna, and have some salad with this, with an oily dressing and/or some vinaigrette

Dinner
2 sausages/tin tuna mayo
Leaf spinach.

More processed meat, and do you know the carb count of the sausages? I'd suggest fresh meat/fish, fried in butter/lard/coconut oil, or a roast of some kind - belly pork would be fab as it's nice and fatty - with broccoli or cauliflower or courgettes, and some salad. Lots of butter on your veg, even a creamy/cheesy sauce (not made with flour). Or roast veg, done in lots of olive oil - aubergine, courgettes, leeks and shallots is a nice combination

BIWI · 24/09/2014 15:52

Sorry - lunch should have read 'an oily dressing and/or some mayonnaise' - but check the carb count on the mayo!

Why not come and join us on Bootcamp? The next one starts on Monday.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/09/2014 15:54

Can't do dairy but the rest sounds ok... Really have no money at the moment for decent meat or fish, might just have to drink oil and munch spinach leaves.

Fattier cuts of meat are often much cheaper! Have a look at things like breast of lamb - it's often a Sainsbury's Basic - lovely and tasty and perfect for low carbing because it's a fattier cut.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/09/2014 15:57

Eggs and mushrooms for breakfast then.
Lunch, god I dunno. fresh air.
Dinner. Can probably roast a cauli. Love roast cauliflower. Drink a glass of oil with it (joke).

Can't afford that, believe me I've compared. It's way cheaper to eat crap and be fat. NOT that I eat crap! Just seem to gain weight easily. Who gets fat on Ryvita? Sad

I'll check out Bootcamp, thanks BIWI.

Chicken thighs are cheap - especially if you buy them bone-in; lamb breast is also cheap. Fatty mince is usually very cheap ...

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/09/2014 18:23

Thanks BIWI, good suggestions. Will revise plan and visit supermarket first thing.

Some other ideas for cheaper cuts of meat here most of them can be bunged in a slow cooker with some stock and veg and slow cooked until tender. You can then easily freeze portions of it, or have it a few days in a row!

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/09/2014 21:28

Nice one! thanks, some of that looks delicious.

Pork mince is cheap - I make pork burgers.

Farmfoods for meat? 5 trays of lamb chops (8 per tray) for £15. I always spend £50 for £5 off voucher. So £13.50 for 40 lamb chops. 3 is about £1 - same as a tin of tuna? I have that for breakfast / lunch quite often.
