Help pls- how to lose 2 stones in 2 months without starving myself

Please can someone help me. I need to lose 2 stones. I'm constantly a hungry person so wouldn't be able to do a salad and water diet. I eat the whole day and can't stop. I've tried eating nuts(protein) to curb my hunger as snacks but end up eating more nuts and still feel the hunger.

I constantly feel extremely fatigued to do any exercise.

You either need to cut back on your calories (either by cutting down on portions or by swapping to less calorie dense foods) or by upping your activity.

That doesn't mean eating salad or working out til you drop.

Get a pedometer and aim to try and meet as many steps as you can manage, then try for a few more each day. 10,000 is the target eventually.

Eat a range of foods that give you iron and vitamins/minerals. You may feel less fatigued than if you are eating a lot of sugar.

Sign up for MyFitnessPal online or through the app (or free) and stick all your details in. It will tell you what level of calories you can eat. You may be surprised at how many you are allowed and can still lose weight eating.

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 11/09/2014 21:43

2 stone in 2 months? Doubtful and screams faddy diet which you cant keep up.

Sensible eating and exercise is the only long term way as I'm very slowly finding out.

TweeAintMee · 11/09/2014 21:44

OP - are you drinking enough water? You may be eating so much to compensate for dehydration.

helensburgh · 11/09/2014 21:45

I've done it by no carbs. Well not strictly true , I can go no carbs for maybe 5 days then I crack, but get back on track easily.

First week I lost 8 lbs. I started at 11 stone, so fat but not massively obese.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 11/09/2014 21:48

281bs in 9 weeks is about 3lb a week which is pretty ambitious. It took me 8 months to lose 2 and a half stone but I have kept it off for two years. I ate less and moved more (good old fashioined calory counting, but no food groups excluded).

Wishfulmakeupping · 11/09/2014 21:49

What's your bmi now OP?

Wishfulmakeupping · 11/09/2014 21:50

Sorry wrong thread!

HeySoulSister · 11/09/2014 21:51

I lost 5 stone low carbing

One you are out of the sugar addiction it's easy. You feel full all the time then

Wheresmypassport · 11/09/2014 21:54

I think slimming world is really good as you can eat loads and still lose weight

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 11/09/2014 21:59

I don't think losing 2 stone in 2 months is particularly healthy or sensible personally but I can relate to the constant hunger! I've been using myfitnesspal whilst pregnant as the last 2 times I've put on 5.5 stone and was determined not to do it again. my aim is just to stay within my calorie goal each day but you can use it to diet too. It might be worth considering that you need to eat 500 calories less each and every day for a week in order to lose a pound, my maths isn't very good but I think to lose 2 stone in 2 months you'd need to lose about half a pound a day - so you'd need to eat 1750 calories less per day to achieve your goal..If you're working on the basis of a woman's daily intake of 2000 this is completely unachievable and quite silly. .your body will simply go into starvation mode and hang on to any fat you have or it will start eating away at itself and you'll get very sick - please somebody correct me if I'm wrong

I would say take small steps, take the stairs where you wouldn't usually, walk when you'd usually drive or get the bus and get up at a decent time/get some early nights - look after yourself

when it comes to food the way I would do it is to cut out sugar completely, then ensure I met a sensible amount of calories with lots of protein. I personally think carbs are not all bad but I have found I can eat a meal say lasagne with courgette instead of pasta or cauliflower/celeriac and I don't really notice I'm not having pasta - I consume less calories but still feel full and enjoy the taste so that may work for you

whatever you do, ease yourself in gently, fad diets can rarely be stuck at for long and if they worked most of us would be slim! Best of luck Smile

Thanks everyone so far

Good idea about pedometer - Ihad forget ton about that. I had that years and years ago. The app sounds good I'll try that thanks

BobPat
Thanks, you're right it does sound faddy now that you mentioned and I have thought about it again. Can't control food for 1 day so 2 months wishful thinking

TweeAintMee
Don't drink more then a glass of water if that in a day. Drinks 2 to 3 cups tea. If I drink more then 1 cup of water I need the loo literally every 15 minutes.

helensburgh
Oh not carbs. I love my carbs a bit too much.I could eat a whole loaf of fresh bread and plates of pasta.

amothers
I didn't think of it like that I.e. Pounds per week. 3lbs would mean no slippage at all. Thanks feel more encouraged hearing your success whilst not excluding food groups. I'd rather keep the weight of long term. How many sweet treat so you have per week?

I agree with cupoftea it's not achievable to sustain weight loss at that rate, 1-2 lb a week is sustainable and you could be most of the way to your goal by Christmas.
you would be v welcome to join the 1stSept thread, lots of us on there with a few stone to lose and a variety of moderate approaches.
I'm doing a loose version of slimming world off my own back (previous member) to lose baby weight. 1 stone down in 9 weeks and at least another to go. I like SW because there is v little counting or weighing, it encourages you to eat lots of free foods ( fruit, veg, lean meat and fish, pasta, rice etc) measured amounts of 'healthy extras' ( dairy and bread/ cereals) and then some 'syns' to be spent on treats. It works well if you home cook, any processed food is high-syn. You never have to be hungry though.
buying the magazine is a good way to see what you can eat on the plan, has lots of nice recipes and an example week menu. The handbooks are cheap on ebay if you don 't want to join a group. The classes are good for motivating you to stick to it/ keeping you accountable. I'm hoping the thread will do that bit for me!

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown

Thanks for all your advice.

I'm gonna write those numbers on paper and stick it on the fridge. When you break it down like that 2 months seems crazy. Might even stop me opening the fridge to often

Didn't think of that substituting pasta for veg.I 'll try that.

Also agree about sugar. I have no off switch when it comes to chocolate, sweets, biscuits etc so I've just stopped eating them completely. I am still having starchy carbs but choosing smaller portions and making up the difference with veg. after a few days you stop craving refined sugar - it mucks up your energy balance and it's addictive.

TweeAintMee · 12/09/2014 08:18

ab90 - you really really have to drink more healthy (non sugary and non-caffeinated) fluid, even if you do need the loo every 15 mins (your body will adapt). You will eat less if you increase fluid intake. Put out 6 glasses next to the sink and make sure you drink them. Just don't go overboard.

tabulahrasa · 12/09/2014 08:28

I've been on slimming world for nearly a year, I've lost 5 stone 10lb so far with another 2 stone to go, which I hope to achieve by about January or Febuary.

It's only been possible to stick to it that long because I'm not starving myself...I couldn't have been on a diet where I was constantly feeling hungry or deprived for that long.

Basically you eat freely from fruit, vegetables, eggs, lean meat and fish, pasta, rice and potatoes...you have measured amounts of bread or nuts and dairy and very small amounts of the things you know cause weight gain (fat, sugar, alcohol and junk food). You fill up a third of your plate with the things you know are good for losing weight (non carby veg mostly).

Because there are plenty of foods you can eat freely from - you change your eating habits, well I have anyway.

I have lost 16 lb in 1 month with almased - low GI, all natural. I am a bit of an evangelist about it now. I have tried slimming world, weight watchers et al in the past but I find the quick weight loss motivating and the fact that it is low GI is really helpful to me...no cravings from blood sugar swings.
