I am trying to go to the gym for an hour a night - but cant do it every day. What is enough? (to see results).

I am also eating low carbs.

I'd say 45 mins four or five times a week - but only if you work hard, and don't just slowly pedal on a stationary bike or something.
But the key is calories in v calories out, so you won't notice any results in terms of weight loss if your food intake is too high.

For me, circuit training and spinning, as well as running, see the best results. Most classes are a bit of a waste of time IMO, if it's weight loss you're after. Yes, aquafit might be fun, as might Zumba, but it's not hard exercise in the way circuits is.

Good luck!

I do an hour four times a week. I do HIIT training with weights and haven't lost lots of weight, but lots of inches.

Thank you both. I did circuit training for the first time this week and can confirm that I have obviously been doing nothing at all in the gym so far as it nearly finished me off!!! Felt amazing afterwards though so I'm going to continue. I can see what you mean about it having to be a proper work out. I used to go to the gym and not exert myself at all. Now I'm going to try and do all the classes.
What do you think to legs, bums and tums? Good or a waste of time?

You need to build muscle. That way you will burn more calories.

Do maybe some boxer isle stuff like the Ricky Hatton classes and some meta fit to really shock your body.

Madamecastafiore · 10/09/2014 16:05

Pump and combat are good workouts too.

snappycow · 10/09/2014 16:31

I did combat yesterday - was ok. Unfortunately the gym I'm at don't offer body pump or spinning. The only options are circuits, boxfit, Zumba, aqua aerobics, bums and tums, yoga, Pilates.

If I were you I'd stick to the circuits and then do those exercises (mountain climbers, commando get ups, plank, press ups, spider walks, burpees etc) in your own time. It's brutal but it works!

IMO legs, bums and tums is a waste of time, but your classes may be different to mine. I'm at Virgin.

I'm just at a council leisure centre place. Did bum, tums tonight but barely worked up a sweat. Think you're right. Circuits it is.
