I have posted before, I am 17st and quite short, so very very overweight due to some physical and mental health issues. Anyway I have decided that enough is enough. I have seen my Drs who are supporting me in my weight loss but are not forcing me onto any programme, due to my issues I need control so have to find my own. I am going to gym x2 p/w (min 1.5hrs) and am being helped by a PT. 1 Pilates class p/w + practice for 30 mins x2 daily. All chair based but lots of adapted cardio at gym. So getting a sweat on! Grin

However, the diet is causing me more of an issue than I thought. I like the look of low carb, but not great at portion control so worried about the fat content. Also the fruit thing is worrying me, because I find fruit satifying and have been a binge eater/bulimic in the past and I have switched my desire for sweets, biscuits, bread (all my heavies as I call them) to fruit to get the sweet taste. I'm only having 3 pieces per day. So my question is:

If I don't consciously restrict fat so eat some cheese, meat fat, whole eggs but don't deliberately add butter, cream ect. Avoid all processed carbs, refined sugars and hidden sugars. Could I still loose weight easily?

Thanks for any answers

Have you seen the slimming world diet

You don't have to weigh or measure anything thats on the 'free' list

Fruit and veg can be eaten freely and so can eggs, meat, potatoes and pasta.

This is not my blog or anyone I know - but it gives good info about it

That all sounds pretty good! I personally also favour a low carb, higher fat diet, it has worked for me.

Have you considered trying My Fitness Pal? I def see what you are saying, and even healthy food in too large quantities is going to stop you losing weight, and the excess sugar would make you feel rubbish too.

MFP is a tool to enable you to track all your food so you can see exactly what you are eating, and burning.

I eat very high fat and very low carb and have lost 5 stone so I think this way of eating is brilliant.

I did cut out fruit for a good few months, but once you've stopped all additional sugar, you begin to taste the sweetness in veg and tomatoes again.

I now eat berries but no other fruit.

Have a look at the Harcombe Diet and good luck :)

I think so, I pretty much cut all snacks from my diet, replaced with fruit and have lost almost 2 stone, in about 6mths. Didn't esp change anything else.

Snacks/treats in the past were biscuits, crisps, full fat lattes, ice cream, cakes. Never or very occasionally eat these now.

Hope you get on well
