Nuts? I'm confused!

Recently starting looking into this low-carb stuff and saw that nuts came under the restricted foods list. However in Wheat Belly it says that nuts can be eaten in any amounts.

Can someone tell me how I should feel about nuts (!) and why they're ok/not ok.

I should add that I pretty much love nuts and they form a large part of my diet as I don't eat much meat.

Thanks.

I only eat certain nuts - pecan, almond and Brazil. I don't eat lots at a time - between 3 and 6. Interesting that it says you can eat any amount. Think I've got that book....

Well they're good for you but like anything it's all about portion size! They are full of calories and so delicious that it'd be easy to eat a bagful, thus putting away 2000 calories in one go.

A large handful a day is fine. Fat is a good thing - it's sugar that's the root if all evil so as part of a low carb diet they're great

I love nuts, too, and added them in to my diet to increase protein (and for the good fat) as I don't eat much meat and could do with eating more fish

Echoing TheWorld, portion control is the key. I weigh out my daily nut allowance and put them into little tiny Tupperware boxes to stop myself scarfing 100g at a sitting. 25g mixed (Brazils, walnuts, almonds, cashews) is circa 170 calories.
