Having such a bad weekend - haven't stopped eating - mostly because I didn't go to the supermarket and buy helthy stuff so have lived on fast food all weekend. Am premenstrual too with dreadful backache - winge, winge, moan, moan

JackieNo · 17/09/2006 22:10

Oh dear - poor you suejonez. I do sympathise. Are you starting to run down the contents of your fridge yet in preparation for the big trip? I guess it's a week away now, isn't it, so it might be a bit soon to do that. It's MrsJC's big trip this week though (is it Tuesday?). I do hope she's doing OK.

suejoneziscalmernow · 17/09/2006 23:52

Not deliberately Jackie! I just didn't find time to get to a supermarket and had a friend staying to help me get some DIY done - resorted to bad abad bad things. Will have a lovely cottage cheese salad tomorrow ...

Littlefish · 18/09/2006 12:36

Is there such a thing as a "lovely cottage cheese salad" - not in my book

Sue, cut yourself some slack. You are under incredible pressure at the moment and great emotional stress. Concentrate on doing all the jobs you need to get done before your trip so that you can leave for Zakakhstan (no idea how you spell it!) knowing that everything is ready for your return.

We are all here for the long haul - the food issue will still be here when you get back (unfortunately). For now, your preparations are the most important thing (and I mean emotional preparation too).

For so long, you've hardly given yourself permission to believe it's going to happen. Start to visualise now what life is going to be like when junior is here.

I thought we weren't going to think of food as "bad", and especially not "bad, bad, bad". Unwise choice maybe, but not bad.

This is your official kick-up-the-bum and supportive hug from a well-wishing friend.

suejoneziscalmernow · 18/09/2006 17:28

OUCH!

WigWamBam · 18/09/2006 17:54

A "lovely cottage cheese salad" is a fine example of an oxymoron

Littlefish is right though. You're under a lot of pressure and this is a stressful time. Cut yourself some slack and be nice to yourself.

And wasn't the rule about not thinking of food as bad one of yours? It's a good one.

Yup - totally agree here - go easy on yourself. But I disagree with Littlefish and WWB about the cottage cheese salad. I love cottage cheese - in fact I had a very delicious baguette with cottage cheese and salad for lunch. So yah boo sucks to you (you can tell I'm feeling better, can't you).

suejoneziscalmernow · 18/09/2006 18:03

well some damn fool thought up that no BAD foods line - can't believe it was me. It's just so frustrating isn't it, when your first reaction is to eat.

Still don't have any food at home, so will have to hit Tesco Metro on the way home.

JackieNo · 18/09/2006 18:04

Bet they sell cottage cheese...

Buy yourself some really luscious fruit, maybe?

suejoneziscalmernow · 18/09/2006 18:07

yum - thanks Jackie thats really helpful....

Littlefish · 18/09/2006 18:10

Delicious very ripe mango - so ripe that you have to eat it in the bath... yummy.

Blimey JackieNo, I just wish I liked cottage cheese. Glad you're feeling better.

WigWamBam · 18/09/2006 18:11

Cottage cheese ... why would anyone want to eat something that looks and smells like a nasty health complaint that I won't mention just at the moment in case anyone's eating tea??

OP posts:
Littlefish · 18/09/2006 18:20

Yuck WWB (but absolutely right)

WigWamBam · 18/09/2006 21:28

Ah - so not mentioning it in case anyone was eating worked then

OP posts:
coppertop · 18/09/2006 21:45

I never thought I'd find myself laughing at cottage cheese but PMSL at WWB's comment!

suejoneziscalmernow · 18/09/2006 22:35

Actually I quite LIKE cottage cheese [humpy look emoticon] but only when I don't HAVE to eat it. I have not been back on the wagon today or indeed even in the vague neighbourhood of any wagons but will try again tomorrow.

Sounds like the desperate hunt for the vital piece of paper required for my visa... "try again tomorrow..."

JackieNo · 18/09/2006 23:03

Suejonez, I'm with you on the cottage cheese. Don't worry about the wagons - they can roll without you for a bit.

justamum · 18/09/2006 23:37

I like cottage cheese too, especially on baked potatoes. Why is it that when we actually quite like healthy stuff, ie cottage cheese /salad / fruit that we always turn to the junk when we want to comfort eat? LOL WWB, what a charming thought!
Sue, I agree with the others, besides which the food may be quite grim out in Kaz.... (can't remember how to spell it) so I would spend the rest of your nights at home eating takeaway!!!! chinese tomorrow, then curry, then pizza, then f&c, then McDs/KFC. I think its a fantastic excuse to eat like a hoss for a few days. Any excuse is good enough in my book.

WigWamBam · 19/09/2006 11:22

And I thought I'd been quite subtle with my thought. I was at least delicate about it ...

... not normally like me at all

OP posts:
suejoneziscalmernow · 19/09/2006 15:56

Oh bum - no letter of invitation for my visa - looks like departure date will be delayed again.

Bum. Bum, bum, bum.

JackieNo · 19/09/2006 16:11

Oh no - you poor thing - it's so frustrating for you . Am about to put those bath toys in the post tonight (or possibly tomorrow morning, depending on whether I make it to the post office in time) so if you get a suspiciously lumpy parcel through the post in the next few days, you know what it is. sorry it's taken me so long.

WigWamBam · 19/09/2006 18:19

Oh, Sue ...

Do you have some handy cushions to thump? Or a cat to kick?* *Disclaimer: this is a joke. Don't try it at home, kids.

OP posts:
suejoneziscalmernow · 19/09/2006 18:21

two cats WWB - but am out playing bridge this evening so their little bottoms are safe.

WigWamBam · 19/09/2006 18:26

Kick a few ankles under the table instead then ...

It must be so frustrating for you, particularly at this stage.

OP posts:
justamum · 19/09/2006 21:14

Sue how long prior to your trip do you have to have the visa? what a pain when you are so close- bloody bureaucracy, its the same everywhere isn't it.
