Does this sound right when low carbing?

Hi, hope some one can help me! I've just started low carbing at my docs suggestion as it's been discovered I have PCOS and this is what she said would 'melt the fat off me' Hmm

So I've been doing it for 5 weeks and have totally cut out the main carbs such as bread, pasta, rice, chips etc. And have been cutting right down I the other rubbish usually eat.

I have been feeling really sicky a lot of the time and my stomach is really really bloated! In the past I've always put it down to eating to much bread or something, are these 2 things common with low carb?

Also I have lost 2lb in 5 weeks, hardly the melting of fat I was promised and I honestly have tried so hard I just don't understand it.

I feel I must be doing something wrong?

What are you eating? I really don't know much about low carb diets but it doesn't sound quite right

Been having all bran for breakfast (I know this isn't low carb but I felt it important to get some fibre)

Then having a salad for lunch and dinner is either casserole, curry, stirfry etc. Made from scratch and using loads of veg and chicken or steak and then I just have a bit extra of that rather than a carb accompliment.

I've been snacking on fruit and majorly cut down on sugary/ fatty treats by about 95%.

I was wondering if I haven't been eating enough because I've been feeling really sicky but when I did eat a bit more for a few days because I felt better, I put on 2lb and It took another week or so to lose it again!

It could be the all-bran. I can't have any high bran cereal for more than a couple of days in a row without having an attack of IBS (I get bloating and painful trapped wind with it). You might be better trying porridge.

P.s. it doesn't really sound like low carb if you're having all bran and lots of fruit. I'm not a low carber, don't think I could maintain it, but I have found amazing results (adrenal fatigue and weight all reducing at a nice rate, IBS gone) just by mid-carb, mid-protein, mid-fat diet. I'm basically trying to have no more than 100g carbs in a day (and I don't include veg in that)and compensate for this by adding extra fat to the meal. E.g for breakfast I'll have 30g porridge (not a huge portion) but will make it with full fat milk or I stir a spoonful of coconut oil into it if I've only got semi skimmed milk. For lunch I'm usually having a small baked potato with either tuna or chicken Mayo and salad dressed with EV olive oil. For main meals I'll still have a small portion of whatever carbs we're having on the side of a bigger portion of whatever the main dish is.

On the whole, I'm trying to have no more than 30g carbs per meal and also plenty of veggies but I'm kept fuller for longer by not worrying about the fat content. Its been a revelation for me, I'm satisfied by each meal so no longer snacking, the weight is dropping off and I'm feeling healthier than ever. I'm confident I can maintain it too cos I've not really changed what I'm eating, just changed the ratio of carbs/fat in each meal (I've kept protein much the same, decent portion but not the mainpart of the meal).
