Time to be more mindful! Remember that, sadly, weight put on beyond menopause is a lot harder to shift.

If you want to keep up the wine- and who doesn't??!- you'll need to cut back on something else and/or exercise more.

Lizziebelle There's a thread about Paul Mckenna 3 down from yours have a look at it! The problem with wine is that it's just extra empty calories and it makes you depressed and grumpy (well it does to dh!)

btw i managed to shed 3 stone with Paul mckenna and I'm maintaining and I'm 63!

Tansie · 17/06/2014 07:50

ppeat well done! Can I ask over what period of time you lost that 3 stone? I'm PMcK and have lost 16 lbs since April 1st.

ppeatfruit · 17/06/2014 09:59

Thanks Tansie Well done to you!! Grin it took a while tbh maybe a year and a half or more. But I've got some tips on losing more quickly to get started IFYSWIM!

I should 've said shorts etc. are worse than wine for depression because a GOOD red wine is ok for most people (not for weight loss though!!)

ppeatfruit · 17/06/2014 10:06

lizziebelle I noticed that cutting out my daily, only ONE, freshly ground coffee habit resulted in me losing a stone without even trying! (if you do this choose a day when you can take it easy though because I got a nasty headache)

Also eating fruit on an empty stomach is very helpful for health and weight loss.!

Tansie · 17/06/2014 11:04

I found a small, concentrated bit of protein curbs my hunger; like a boiled egg or Blush a (single) supermarket-bought (Ikea-style) Swedish meatball now and then! Probably not the healthiest choice but hey, few calories and a real taste-bomb.

I've been going easy on the carbs, too, and tried courgette 'spaghetti' with bolognese sauce last night and it was a taste sensation! I preferred it to real spag!

Losing 3 stone in 3 years is very likely to be a sustainable loss, isn't it? Well done.

ppeatfruit · 17/06/2014 12:35

IMO and E we all do what suits us with the Paul Mc. It sounds like you'd be good on the Atkins but I tried it for 2 days and felt ill!

I was on the support Paul Mckenna thread for years but some of them became a bit blinkered (no room for me) I like flexibility Grin so i left.

Tansie · 17/06/2014 12:52

Yes, I'm not to the PMK support thread, either- I'm sure it's great and useful but I found I had to trawl it, inevitably once it's up around 800 posts each time, to get information or the inspiration I was looking for.

ppeatfruit · 17/06/2014 13:18

Shall we start our own one? Grin

LizzieBelle · 17/06/2014 13:38

I think I shall go on the Atkins, as it is easy to knock out carbs. I'll eat meat and eggs for snacks etc.

I think each person is different, and you need to research the best diet for you

Exactly lizzie If the high protein way suits you then go for it. I found I need carbs. but not wheat that stops my digestion dead and exhausts me. So I eat quinoa, whole rice, pure rye bread etc. it works for me.

The thing with combining it with the Paul Mckenna it's something you can 'live with' rather than stop once you've lost the weight because then it just goes back on again Grin

kazzawazzawoo · 17/06/2014 15:44

ppeatfruit, where do you buy your pure rye bread?

ppeatfruit · 17/06/2014 16:08

Kazzawazz I buy it mainly in Waitrose even the small ones have it but the large ones have a good selection including Kamut and spelt. You can get the flat pumpernickel type everywhere. Sainsbos does it too. Some good organicy type health food shops have it.

You always need to check the ingredients though because I buy the ryvitas too and some of those have got wheat in.

kazzawazzawoo · 21/06/2014 10:30

No Waitrose here sadly, but I'll look in Sainsburys.
