Not sure where to post but looking for any recommendations about dvds. I have 3 children under 3yrs and no time to commit to classes or go to gym so, to tackle my baggy body I heed to do something at home. Trouble is I'm just 6 weeks past multiple abdominal hernia repair so need something a bit gentle that will allow me to build up slowly. All the ones I've looked at seem crazy hyper energy and I'm not up to leaping around my living room! Any ideas welcome

I would usually recommend Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, but there is lots of abs work so that's not going to do it for you. There are probably aspects of it that you could do, so you could have a look at it on Youtube, as I think the first level on there, and see if there are any bits that are suitable. There is one exercise (punches) that she recommends as good cardio if you have any lower body injuries.

I would say maybe something like yoga for something more gentle where you can build up your strength. Have a look round youtube and you can usually find clips so you can maybe find something that suits you before forking out money for a dvd.

Not cheap is it?? Say you did three sessions a week, that would work out at nearly £180 a month. I think this would be a very niche market.

Also you can't always predict with kids when it's going to be possible to fit something in, so dvd is probably better than scheduled sessions in that regard.

Take a look at davina, some of her DVDs are quite low impact if you follow jackie. I'd avoid power of 3 and superbody (think that's what is called) until you've built up to it.
An oldie that is actually very good shows age is Beverley callard (liz from corrie) real results. It feels very low impact when you are doing it but I did notice a big improvement in my figure. Don't know if they still sell it though

What about Yoga? It's not as energetic, but it is good for toning and works muscles more than you'd think...

I have this it's older, but pretty good and fairly cheap if you buy a used one.

Unless anyone knows of a better more recent one?

There is also fitnessblender.com: they have hundreds of different free workouts, and quite a few are low impact.
