Need to decide on a diet.....

Desperately need to lose weight but I can't seem to decide on any one plan and stick to it. Was a member of E-diets and did Atkins on that - lost 2 stone but have put almost double that back on again. Tried GI but can't seem to stick to it. Am now the heaviest I have ever been and need to lose about 6 stone. I have every diet book going. Tried Slimming World but couldn't stick to it. Tried Paul McKenna - did nothing for me.

HELP!!!

Weightwatchers?
My friend works as a nutritionist for the nhs and always refers her overweight patients to ww. She honestly thinks its the best way to lose weight. I found it really good but unfortunately, you need the willpower too!
I'm trying it again though.

thought i could tell you how great i am finding slimming world diet. sorry its not worked for you. I have been thinking about lighter life diet b4 i found slimming world. You hve to meet a consultant, You only have the "food" (shakes soup, and things) they give you and no other food, the weight loss is suposed to be fast though.

Hi Budababe - I can sympathise, and would definitely recommend Weightwatchers. I've only been going a couple of weeks but already am losing weight and I've tried other things before. I think going to the meeting's a big part of it - as well as parting with £4.95 a week!

My willpower is usually pretty pathetic, but knowing I'm going each Thursday has strengthened my resolve and it's starting to get a bit easier now my body's getting used to eating less food (or less crappy food!).

Good luck!

Thanks guys - forgot to mention that I live in Budapest so not only can I not get to WW/SW/LL meetings but am limited in the amount of "diet/low-fat" stuff available.

Am thinking of doing WW on-line. Anyone tried it? I used to do WW years ago and found it good but never really managed to stick to it long-term.

Foudn Atkins the best but struggle with the fact that it's not very healthy.

Right - have woken up today with a plan of sorts!

Will basically eat healthily/low GI this week and aim to drink lots of water. So far have had porridge made with soya milk, added linseeds and blueberries for breakfast with 2 cups of tea.

Am planning a tomato/bean salad for lunch. Snacks of oatcakes w. hoummous and or banana.

Hoping if I write it down I'll stick to it!!!!

that's tricky. I'd probably do the WW on-line - at least there'll be chat forums you can use (as well as us lot here on MN!!). Good luck though - I'm struggling a bit at the moment. It's my weigh in tomorrow and although my clothes are starting to fit better, I feel really fat and frumpy... I think this for me is the most depressing thing about starting a diet/eating sensibly - it wakes me up to how big I really am!
