WW... Is your weight shouted out or is it discreet?

How does it work? I am thinking of joining.

Are you weighed in public and weight made public or is it more discreet?

we queue to get weighed, but people waiting stand well back. Weight losses/gains don't get called out at our club, not sure if it's the same at every class though.

ours is very discreet. You have to stand at a certain distance to wait and then when you're weighed she doesn't read it out but just shows you on the scales. The last time I went I read the number upside down and was really disappointed at first because I thought I'd put 1lb on - turns out I'd lost 7!

In the meeting she asks if anyone's pleased with how they've done - and then it's up to you to say how much you've lost etc. She hasn't asked so far if anyone's disappointed..!

All very discreet ...not like Fat Fighters on little Britian !!

lilmamma · 15/08/2006 17:55

In our weight watchers class, the other people stand away and she either shows you the scale or whispers it to you,and then during the class, she will say anyone pleased and its up to you if you want to put your hand up.when you get a silver seven for the first 7lb she normally says, something like and julie got her first silver seven and we all give you a clap, just a bit of fun,but you deserve it,so enjoy. You learn loads of tips and our leader brings in her wok and does fabulous things and we all get to taste them, she is a brilliant cook, loads of great ideas.

Great minds, Fio - I was going to say they have one of those big boards like at football matches and flash your weight up in lights Nah, not really - it's very discreet.

In the early 70s my Mum used to go to a slimming club and whoever had done worst that week (ie., lost the least, or put on) had to stand in a circle of chairs - the "Pig Pen" - while the other slimmers walked around making oinking noises. No kidding.

puff · 15/08/2006 18:19

rofl re pigpen

marthamoo · 15/08/2006 18:19

I bet it worked though, puff

puff · 15/08/2006 18:24

lol, wonder if anyone has since sued for the psychological trauma

I can't stop laughing about it - I have a very clear picture in my head

oinker · 15/08/2006 18:49

OK decision made. I am going to enrol next tuesday at 7.30 pm. Could do it tonight but have noticed the offer on their site and my printer is not working. How much does each session cost? I am in London, not sure if it makes a difference where you are.

I don't think it's more in London - it's £4.95 I think. Good luck.

DollyP · 16/08/2006 17:33

also oinker if you look in the sundays (well, the tabloids - haven't seen one in the observer ) they always have a register for free coupon, saving you a tenner. Worth buying a paper you might not usually buy to save that, IMO.

Hi
I've been doing ww for almost a year. I don't really follow the points/ no count systems but the recipies are great and the potential humiliation of someone knowing your weight each week seems to work for me.

My big problem is exercise. I HATE exercise and with two kids (ages 3 and 2) there's no way to go swimming or to any organised classes except in the evening when dh back from work and kids in bed. But that's when I eat, drink and slob in front of west wing dvds.

Oh... just figured out why weight loss has slowed down.

If anyone has exercise suggestions to do with two snotty tag alongs I'd be grateful.

But have lost 4 stone in last year so can't be all bad. Still could play rugby for England though (or Ireland in my case).

oinker · 18/08/2006 19:46

xoxoxo.....

That is a fantastic acheivement. I am well impressed. Well done.

I should think having two young kids is excercise enough, so don't worry. I am sure you are doing more than some of us on here.

Well done !

ta, but still am grand porker.

beer/wine/sheesh mahal do not help.
no will whatsoever at weekends.

seriously, any ideas on exercise would help enormously as have not moved scales for a month. Any classes that take kids/ have creches?

still can fit several Richmond Nannies into one trouser leg. Really - is size 6 blonds a rule here or what?

Hi there
I walk, walk, walk but it still I wobble...
I really need to get some proper exercise to get the heart pumping.
Someone has suggested curves in twickenham for a quick and dirty workout which may work in september when my 2 are in preschool/ nursery for an afternoon , albeit I only have just over an hour's free time.
Does anyone know if it is good?

oinker · 21/08/2006 08:12

Swimming is also a very good form of exercise. It does not put too much pressure on the joints. Try aqua aerobics.

great idea; loved this when I was pregnant.
