erm are any ladies there?i want to know what u do when u want an indian?a takeaway i mean not an actual indian person.remember hes on accomplia.is it things like chicken tikka and salad ?can u help.?

OP posts:
suejonez · 04/08/2006 16:55

Replacing takeaways when you're dieting is nearly impossible. They are massively high in fat but you can do similar things homemade.

Curries made at home are just fine, just use very little oil
Chicken Tikka isn't too bad
rice not too bad

not everything on a diet has to be salad, fat is the big enemy not carbs

You can get leaflets from people like the British Heart Foundation on healthy eating, ring them and I'm sure they'll send you one. or look round local charity shops for low fat cook books even if you don;t want to cook much, they'll give you an idea of what he should be eating.

You can order the leaflets from The British Heart Foundation here . Scroll down a bit, and you can see a list of the publications that might help, including one called Lose Weight For Good. Others that might help are called Eating For Your Heart, Cholesterol, and Put Your Heart Into Walking.

There's a link on that page to their healthy eating information as well.

WigWamBam · 05/08/2006 20:17

There is some good information on healthy eating on the Diabetes UK website - the diet that they recommend for diabetes is the kind of healthy diet that everyone should follow and the site's got lots of useful information about food.

WigWamBam · 05/08/2006 20:24

And it might also be worth having a look at this page which gives some advice for people who are the carers or partners of people with eating disorders ... you may not think he has one, but compulsive over-eating and binge eating (which many very overweight people suffer with) are just as much eating disorders as anorexia.

If you have a look at the page on the link, you might be able to see what we were trying to tell you on the other thread. Things like it not being about eating but about feelings, and about where low self-esteem come into it. It might give you some insight into what those feelings might be. It also might help you to see that the feelings you have are to some extent understandable, but hopefully it will also help you see that there are better ways for you to deal with those feelings.

Apparently it is recommended that anyone taking Xenical joins the Xenical MAP motivation, advice and pro-active support group - he can join online here . Patients are able to create menus and exercise regimes to suit their lifestyles, and join a discussion forum for support from other patients and health care professionals - it might be worth him having a look.
