Hey all.
So I'm only b feeding once a day now and it's a very small feed. Periods not back to normal. But I can't lose anymore weight! I'm stuck at 9.3 stone! My bmi is fine but would like to be on the lower end. It's lunch time now and so far I've had a bowl of rice crispies, a biscuit and two slices of marmite toast. Any advice? Thanks in advance xxxxx

One of the reasons that you are hungry may be because you are eating foods that make you hungry. The foods you have mentioned are high in carbohydrate/sugar but relatively low in fat. They will raise your blood sugar temporarily, then when it drops again a couple of hours later, you feel hungry - usually hungry for more carbs/sugar. You are not sating your appetite, instead you're actually increasing it. You're keeping yourself in a 'loop' of hunger.

You may want to increase the amount of fat you eat, while decreasing the level of sugar and simple carbs in your diet. It sounds like you have very little weight to lose so you wouldn't necessarily need a 'bootcamp' style change but more fat and less sugar will go a long way to keeping hunger at bay and dropping the last couple of pounds.

They are all just high sugar/ carb foods

Try porridge for breakfast, a banana for snack, tuna and salad sandwich for lunch

Oooh thanks guys! It's funny because in my mind that seems really indulgent to eat more fat etc. one last pizza tonight and then I will give it a really good go. I didn't know about the carb think actually making you hungry! So interesting. Did you see that programme on channel 4 this week about sugar? So scary! I wish I could cut it completely xxxx

Porridge is still carb (albeit lower GI so much better than Rice Krispies), banana is high in sugar (for fruit) and then more high carb in a sandwich! To feel satisfied, nourish your body and not get hungry for longer you need protein and fat, especially in the first half of the day. Cut out all cereals, juices/smoothies/soft drinks, biscuits etc as a first step to reducing sugar.

Have eggs, fish, unprocessed meat, full fat Greek yoghurt, nuts, berries, lots of veg. Snack on apple with nut butter, hard boiled eggs, veg and houmous, raw nuts and fresh fruit. Have a big salad or hearty soup for lunch, with beans/lentils/quinoa/chickpeas for carbs. Cut out carbs in the evening. This should help you drop a couple of pounds without feeling hungry. I do think though, if you struggle it may be that you are a 'natural' weight for you, it may be too much like hard work to get those extra few lbs off and keep them off. Eating more of the above food and less white/processed carbs will make you healthier though. See if it makes a difference to your skin/hair/nails/mood and energy levels for example.
