Lost no weight at all!

OK, it's only been just over 1 week but I had expected to lose something. In fact, I've put on 0.4kg!

I've been using myfitnesspal which suggested sticking to 1200 calories per day, which I've been doing religiously. I've also started the c25k programme, completing the 3 week 1 runs and 1 week 2 run last night. I have always lost at least something in the first week of a new regime, so am I doing something wrong?

I know it's early days, but I'm soooo disappointed.

Well, it is strange as long as you have been totally honest about everything you have been eating...no hidden extras?

Have a good look at your diary, what is our nutrition chart telling you re carbs/proteins/fat.....what percentage of each are you having? Are you drinking enough water.

I'm sure someone will come on telling you that you have gained muscle which is heavier than fat but really that wouldn't be the case in your first week....you are not rewarding yourself with a treat after a run?

TOTM?? I dunno, the body is a funny old thing, some people lose in patterns so may lose for 2 weeks, nothing for a week, then lose again. Don't lose heart, keep with it and see what happens on week 2. Take measurements as well as this is a good indicator of how well you are doing.

Add me on MFP if you want, I am Vixen7777 on there :)

Yes Betty I have been completely honest about what I've been eating. It's really strange. The only think I've been a bit slow on is drinking water. I forget for most of the day and then have to drink a few glasses in quick succession!

After my runs I have a banana, orange or apple and I document that on MFP. I've also had no alcohol at all!

I'm definitely sticking with it though. I'll have a look at my percentages on MFP and try you add you on.

Ok well then make sure you are eating enough as if you don't then your body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto every single calorie consumed and your metabolism stops.

I love MFP, been religiously on there for a year now and it has def had brilliant results for me :)

Cheesyslice · 13/01/2014 11:28

I'm not on MFP but water is so key to losing weight. If you dont drink enough your body will retain all the water it can which will slow / stop weight loss.

Rockchick1984 · 13/01/2014 17:37

Are you allowing yourself to eat your exercise cals? So daily cals 1200, burned 500 through exercise, so actually eating 1700? When I did this I didn't lose weight, I had to disregard the extra cals I was allowed for exercise.

elportodelgato · 13/01/2014 17:41

Hi Tail, if you're like me, it takes a good 2 or 3 weeks of following MFP & upping the exercise to see any tangible results. Quite often after one week I am just static or even gone up a bit which I agree is totally depressing and unfair. But next week you'll probably find you've lost more than you hoped. I hope so anyway! Stick at it xx

StrangeGlue · 15/01/2014 17:40

Are you eating mainly carb? It's possible to eat few cals but if they're largely carbs (pure energy) your body uses that and not body fat to fuel your energy.

Tailtwister · 15/01/2014 18:40

Yes, I think I have been a bit heavy on the carbs Strange. Betty very kindly had a look at my diary on MFP and said she thought the same thing.

So, I've completed my second run of wk2 (c25K) and I've resolved not to weigh myself until this time next week at the earliest. Hopefully I'll have lost some weight by then. The weird thing is that my clothes feel a bit looser. That or I've just stretched them!

Thanks for all the support, it really helps to have some feedback. I'm signed up for a 5K run in May, so I'm really hoping to be ready in time for that.
