The No Snack Pack

I've blethered on about this in other threads but I thought I'd start a fresh one so all us no-snackers can be in one place :)

Ok, so, I've been doing the three square meals/no snacking thing for four weeks tomorrow following a shock-of-my-life weigh-in. I lost eight stone in a matter of months with WW in 2000 but became obsessed with restricting my intake to the point I became anorexic. I recovered, but a little too well - I ate and ate until I was over 14st. Back to WW, lost a huge amount of weight rapidly again, went hurtling back towards anorexia... And again I recovered a little too well. I weighed four weeks ago and was 15st. My initial reaction was panic, then to rejoin WW or start one of the fad diets I'd previously peppered my disordered eating with.
Then I had a lightbulb moment.

NONE of these things have worked. Sure, the weight initially fell off, but it only served to perpetuate that awful cycle I've been in for all these years. It's easy to imagine fad diets/WW work when you lose weight quickly - but the very fact so many people return to WW proves that for many, it doesn't work long term. After all, who honestly is happy to count every morsel which passes their lips? Who wants to live like that?

So, this time I decided I wanted to do something different - something simple and sustainable, and to try to - once and for all - sort out my relationship with food.

Well, I haven't felt hungry/deprived once (I have what I fancy AT MEALTIMES - including a sensible dessert after dinner). I dropped a dress size after a fortnight and am sticking with this. Not that there's much to stick to BECAUSE IT'S NOT A DIET -just a sensible, healthy way to eat.

My main aim is to be cool with food. If I lose a bit of weight too, excellent. So far, so good.

So, anyone else doing the no-snack thing? Who's with me?!

May I join? I am a long term yo-yo dieter & now I'm post menopausal, it's getting harder and harder. I just can't do the diet thing any more, but I hate being the size I am. I'm 5ft 5ins, about 13 stone, and a size 16.

I have read the other thread and followed you over here. This makes sense to me. I'm going to put my scales away too. How I face my day is blighted by what they say every morning.

I've been thinking of doing this. Do you have set meal times? I normally eat at 8am, 12 and then 7, but snack in the afternoon :( how about exercise? I'm worried I'd binge before dinner.

I've done this for ages now and it works.

I'm 5 ft 4 and weigh 9 st 5 and this way of eating stops me from piling weight on. I don't snack and I keep carbs to one meal a day - although I'm not a low carber, I believe in moderation.

I eat whatever I fancy at the weekend within reason but keep to three meals a day. I truly believe that your metabolism needs to do its job and digest your meals - it's not necessary to keep fuelling it with constant grazing

I'm sure you'll do great on this plan

I've just started this, was just 'treating' myself too much - cake every day is a habit not a treat after all! Try googling the 'no s diet' for a long term approach (like cherry describes above really).

Well, today was a bit of a disaster. Fine at work, but went a bit bonkers once I got home Hmm
