Anyone want to try the '3 meals a day' diet with me?

I've lost my way and graze all day long. I'm fed up of thinking about diets and want to do 3 decent meals a day (1 snack if v hungry)
Of course, meals must be healthy and a day must contain at least 5 portions of fruit and veg.

Easy right?

Meeeeee! You can reds my other post but I feel exactly the same. Three meals a day sounds like a good place to start to getting back to normal eating.

Do you have much to lose? I'd love to shift a couple of stone, but a stone would be amazing. Not much in the grand scheme of things, I know, but it would make me feel so much more confident and happy in myself.

Hi ChesterDrawers :)

I would love to lose 3 stone but, like you, I'd be so happy to lose a stone to start with. It will put me back in size 12's at least. I'm not too tall so need to be in 10's.

I'm all over the place with food and end up eating all day long! I realise how stupid that sounds but it's almost like I have no structure or control when it comes to food and meal times. And I think I'm a sugar addict.

I'll find your other post and have a read through.

I think the most important thing to do is plan meals and shop.
I've done that today so I have a good idea how I want the week to pan out foodwise.

I will :) I'm not overweight but I am bad for grazing on crap rather than eating decent meals. I need to develop structure and discipline.

In the interests of full disclosure: I am eating pizza as I type Grin

Found your thread Chesterdrawers and your situation sounds like mine!

I've been reading a lot and thinking about a decent healthy diet and the way I'm going to approach this is by doing the following;

Plan and stick to 3 meals a day only with fruit/veg only as a snack
Have fruit and veg with every meal so breakfast can be cereal with fruit, porridge with fruit/berries, eggs with mushrooms etc
Lunches will be leftovers, baked potato with whatever and salad, soup with one slice bread or 2 ryvita, sandwich with a healthy filling and lots of salad. Yoghurt for dessert.
Dinner will be something healthy (this week I've got chicken curry, salmon+mash, ratatoullie, spaghetti+mushroms, lamb steak) everything will be served or cooked with extra veg.

Also drink lots of water and herbal teas.

I really need to do this. I think I need to just stay distracted and focus on other things rather than food.
I also need to feel the hunger and be able to wait for my next meal. I usually start nibbling and picking whenever I'm hungry so when it comes to the meal, I'm actually not hungry but eat it anyway.

Hi Bluestone. Don't worry, to keep to old diet traditions, we can start tomorrow :)

Hi
Can I join? I lost just over a stone doing pretty much what you describe but then I lost my way and found the snacks again.
I'd like to lose 2 and a half stone, I don't mind how long it takes but I think I'll need some support this time round!

BlueStones · 10/11/2013 19:35

Tomorrow indeed, Beechview. Hoping this thread will motivate me!

I've been doing the three square meals/no snacking thing for four weeks tomorrow following a shock-of-my-life weigh-in, and after a life time of fad diets, WW, and nasty brushes with eating disorders. I wanted to do something simple and sustainable, and to try to - once and for all - sort out my relationship with food.

Well, I haven't felt hungry/deprived once (I have what I fancy AT MEALTIMES - including a sensible dessert after dinner). I dropped a dress size after a fortnight and am sticking with this. Not that there's much to stick to BECAUSE IT'S NOT A DIET - just a sensible, healthy way to eat.

Good luck! :)

Oh well done FakeAngel!

I've lost a bit of weight. Not much - about 3-4lbs. I've given up wheat now too so I'm not including any pasta or bread and baked goods in my diet. It seems to be very slow. I need to start exercising or cutting back a bit more to lost more weight.
I know slow and steady is better but when I've got 3 stones to lose, I'm getting a bit impatient.
The good news is that I'm not feeling deprived at all either.

What are you typically eating in a day FakeAngel?
