Changing one (or two or three) things - very gentle but so far sustained weight loss without any misery or diet

Now I am not a weight loss type of person. I won't ever be 'dieting' and (although people find this hard to believe) I am happy with my body.

However I had begun to think that it was a bit foolhardy to continue at the weight I was. I have no risk factos for diabetes or high blodd pressure exept for the weight and now in my late thirties I started to think I should be aware of this.

In August before I went on holiday I weighed 117.8 KG. After two weeks away from work and the 10am comfort chocolate and coke PLUS swimming every day in pool or lovely warm sea I came back to work to find I'd lost weight and was now around 116.4KG. So that inspired me a bit.

I've changed one big thing - no more 10am chocolate and coke. I am also never now being tempted by a carb fest at lunch. Toasted sandwich is as far as I go. I've also started length swimming one morning before work.

That's it. That's all I've done.

My weight yesterday - 113.8KG. That's just about 1/2 a stone lost in 2 months and I reckon I can keep that up. My personal target is 100KG which would put me out of the terrifying BMI range in to the only a bit scary one. We'll see how I go but so far I'm optimistic. I don't want to lose masses. I don't want to diet or be miserable. I just want to make a couple of changes and lose a bit of weight and so far it's working.

Just thought this might be of interest :)

It's helped me - thanks 4kgless!
How easy and sensible...I've spent all my adult life either losing or gaining weight. Every morning I think 'I'll stick to it today!'
That's really made me stop and think.
Infact that post has made me realise I need to completely change the way I think.
Thanks, and well done on weight loss, if that doesn't sound too patronising.
Thanks

Oh brilliant Smile Yes diets basically don't work. Making small sustainable changes is not dieting but hopefully should see you be healthier. Thanks for the well done too - I am quite chuffed Grin

There's a similar thread at the top, and I'm feeling quite inspired to make gradual small(ish) changes too. First it's give up snacking. My aim is to start eating more mindfully , giving my body what it needs and not what I fancy. My body does not in any way need a pack of Rowntree's Randoms and a Freddo every time I pop to the shop Blush
