See your gp and get a referral to your local weight management service.

Weight Watchers worked for me but any diet will require a certain amount of willpower. You've got to really want it iyswim.

Slimming world.....it's not a diet, it's a way of life and I promise you that you will never be hungry. You do have to make sacrifices but lots if food you can eat freely, and you can still have treats in moderation.

I am determined! I want to join ww but money is an issue, plus i have nobody to go with :(

Slimming World and walking helped me lose 3 stone, a year ago. I know nothing works for everyone, but I found SW worked for me. A year later it still makes me think about my food choices.

littlemissnorty · 28/10/2013 18:32

I go on my own (and prefer to tbh) but have made lots of lovely friends all in the same boat as me and genuinely want me to succeed. I have to stay though, I would never lose weight if I just weighed and went.

Tanfastic · 28/10/2013 18:33

If money is an issue then basically just up your intake of fruit and veg and cut out the crap. Every time you feel hungry eat a piece of fruit. Grill everything, do not fry and swap butter for low fat type, same goes for mayo, swap sugar for sweetener etc. Do this for a month and the pounds will drop off.

I loved SW but found it very expensive buying all the fresh food and at the time had to stop. I walk everywhere now and I'm calorie counting which means I can have anything I want as long as I record the calories. Use My Fitness Pal app to help track everything.

Good luck! Take it in small manageable chunks of one stone at a time. You can get there!

The f&v for SW are pricey yes, but pulses are dirt cheap and they are free on SW green days. I ate, still do, a lot if lentil Dahl, chickpea stew, home made fat free hummus, veggie chilli etc. Green days are a walkover if you don't eat meat. But the basics if SW boil down to -
Low fat everything
Fry in FryLight spray
Bulk up on fruit and veg
Lean protein, moderate portions
Very small amounts of bread (i gave it up)
I also gave up alcohol, I liked my syns for food too much.
Eat good portions of bulky food - pasta, rice, plain spuds - to fill up on
Muller Lites and Onken low fat yoghurts were my friends
If I ever needed to eat out in a cafe I always had - still do- jacket spud, cottage cheese and beans - all "free" .
