If you have, how did you fit it in with family meals (no more tuna pasta, chilli and rice, baked potatoes !) and did it help you lose weight? Thanks.

Well I spend 18 months on a low-carb diet. You just eat what everyone else eats simply more meat/fish and veg/salad and no rice/pasta etc. After a while it becomes second nature.

Don't quite know what carb-curfew is - I am assuming it's not eating carbs after 6pm or something like that? If that's the case what sorts of amounts can you have? If it is no carbs you would be pretty restricted to meat/fish. If it is a low-carb level there are plenty of veg you could have - roasted squash is lovely as a sort of carb subsitutte but it's not a no-carb option. Green veg are the best nutritionally and in terms of carb levels.

Hi J! Yes, it's where you can eat carbs during the day but not after 5pm. I suppose, like you say, it's just a case of upping the veg / salad etc with my evening meal. Trouble is I love rice, pasta etc but I guess I could have them for lunch instead. Did you find it helped you lose weight and have you kept it off?

Hi MissPiggy,

yes I did. I lost 20 lbs over 18 months - most of it in the first 6 months. I have since put some on since I got very slack and have now given it up to just try eating balanced healthy food and loads of exercise. The benefits of low-carb eating are that you reduce your appetite considerably and lose your cravings...not sure how that would work when you are eating 'normally' during the day. I would imagine that the theory with a carb curfew would be that you clear all the sugars from your blood stream so that you would be more deeply into ketosis at night ie fat burning.

How many grams of carb can you eat after 5pm? If it's none at all then salad and veg are out... even they contain carbohydrate!! To be truly carb-free would simply be 'clean' meat and fish (ie not processed). But if it's just a question of cutting out the obvious life would be a lot easier As you say, salad and veg and perhaps more of the protein element.

Good luck!
