I'm fat. Again. Have dieted on and off for past 20 yrs, can usually lose a stone and keep it off for a year or two but eventually it comes back. Now I'm facing the scales perilously close to my full term pregnancy weight with a 9lb 13oz baby. I have to sort my shite out.

Shall I do WW online for £30 for three months or do their all in plan including meetings for £55 over three months.

Will the meetings make that much difference. Will I make myself go and weigh in public.

Or should I do what I did last time which was exercise every day (35 mins cross trainer) and eat lightly (around 1300 cals a day) but not actually count calories because the counting makes me very very annoyed.

I'm about 15stone / size 16 / 5ft 7... borderline obese apparently and certainly have lost a lot of zest for life.

I can only say what worked for me, and it was myfitnesspal.com. It does include calorie counting, but I think the feeling of community and support on there made it worthwhile for me. I was nearly 14st and a size 16/18 for the whole of my adult life, I went down to about 10st. Have fluctuated back up to about 11st, but that is the cut off point for me now- I have an inner alarm that sounds when I reach that weight that makes me have to lose again.
Good luck :)

I've tried MFP but not the community side of it, I forget to track after the first few days and then end up caving in.

The whole diet industry thing annoys me too, how much money I've paid out when really I'M the ONLY one who can make weight loss work, I KNOW what I NEED to DO and what I shouldn't do... I was a Jenny Craigs consultant for a few years too lol I really have done them all but eventually my old habits slide back in.

Sigh.

I second the MFP community side. Haven't been on in a couple of months (travelling = little tracking) but found the forums so much more useful than the actual tracking aspect. The success stories were surprisingly great motivation for me (usually not that bothered by the "...and look at me now!" stuff). I learned a lot about maximising results from exercise, foods that were good for curbing cravings, understanding my calorie intake and output. Tracking itself turned out not to be my ideal - it worked, but no more than I can do without the tracking. But the community side meant I now have a cupboard full of go-to foods that are better for me, tasty, and satisfying whilst also helping me to lose weight. Some of the recipes on there are great too.
