Dieting single mum with a 2 year old?

Basically I'm not overweight as such, 5,1 and 9 stone so not big, but since I have lost my job and got a car I can feel that I'm putting weight on already. I was about 8st8 so put on 4 pounds in about 4 weeks.

The main reason I know is boredom and no longer walking to work. I struggle with walking because I always have my 2 year old in tow who walks so slowly that whilst its still exercise its pretty hard to build up a fast pace. She hates her pushchair!

Secondly I want to have a diet with less fat on but not sure how to do this with a 2 year old, I don't want to limit her diet as I know she needs fat but not sure why foods i can cook for both of us that are low enough j. Fat for me to lose weight but still suitable for a 2 year old?

I'm a single mum so it's just us, although DD goes to her dads twice a week when I am trying to get out walking and eat healthily, I can't afford exercise classes either which doesn't help!

Any advice and suitable recipe ideas would be very appreciated!

Can you get a bike? Add a kids seat and you can cycle everywhere with her

Also, although I'm not overweight according to my BMI I'm at the higher end of "normal" so close to being in that category!

Forever Greek, I thought about that but I don't have anywhere to store a bike, I live rurally aswell and things often go missing from gardens so wouldn't feel safe leaving it outside!

Maybe a secondhand one and just lock up outside and cover with a bike cover against weather?

Why not buy one of those mini trampolines, then you can use it to jog on when DD has a nap? Put some music on and just jog to the beat for 20 minutes at a time.

your child will speed up sooner than you think - it takes them quite a while to crack walking and then suddenly they are off.

no need for exercise classes. Perhaps a fitness DVD second-hand off ebay while she's having a nap?

don't use low-fat anything, it is always full of sugar. Just make normal food for you both, and watch your portions. No food is bad, the only difference between you is that she should be on full-fat milk whereas you should consider semi-skimmed. A healthy diet for her is also healthy for you.
