I needs willpower/diet dinner ideas

I've started a diet today because my weight is creeping up and I don't want to get any bigger.
I started to gain weight years ago when I moved in with my Dh and his family because my MIL cooks an Indian feast every night for the whole family. Its so yummy and I don't know how I'm going to say no to it, so what yummy diet dinners to you recommend? My MIL won't compensate with her cooking so I can't ask her for low-fat alternatives (or just to not cook Indian food). Are there any low-fat meals you swear by?
What willpower boosting tips do you have? I'm daydreaming about a bag Cadbury's wispa bites and a coffee and walnut cake. I'm a terrible binge eater and regularly buy chocolate and sweets then eat them in private. I just need something to remind me that fitting back into a size 10 is better than fattening food!

Please feel free to join me in my crisis.

It sounds like cake and chocolates and binge eating are more of a problem than your mils cooking.
Does she do a lot of fried food or use too much oil?
Can you put less on your plate and add more vegetables/salad?

You could try something like www.myfitnesspal.com/
So you can log all your calories in the day and then save about 600 for your evening meal.

When I was losing weight and I had to eat meals that someone else had cooked, I'd eat an apple and have a big glass of water before the meal so I didn't feel like stuffing my face.

Cake and chocolate are the biggest problem for me. I crave binges. My MIL does use a lot of oil and everything seems to involve ghee butter. I've managed to avoid her dinners by eating chicken salad and salmon stir-fry. That's a good idea to have the apple and water Smile. Would that help when I'm craving a sugar binge?
