Low carving

Right, the time has come. I MUST do something about the 4 stone I want to lose. I'm 40 in 3 months & want to lose as much of it by then as I can.
My weaknesses are crisps, bread, pasta, cheese and anything with sugar. I suspect I'm addicted to sugar. I love fruit & veg but not sure if they're compatible with low carbing?

Any tips for low carbing? What to eat? What to avoid? Meal suggestions that are quick ish and not too expensive? What should I keep in the house for instant snacks?
Anyone want to join me on my journey?

Go find the Bootcamp threads.

I had 5 stone to lose in January, have lost 2 so far low carving with little effort ( except giving up the booze - not everyone has to do this but I 'stall' when I drink)

Best of luck!

I am doing the Anna Richardson diet and it is working for me. It cuts down carbs but is not low carbing. My weaknesses are the same as yours with the exception of crisps- I hate them!

She basically says to stick to 5 rules:

  1. No sugar
  2. No wheat
  3. Limited dairy (you can have half a pint of milk and that's supposed to be it- I have added a large spoonful of fat free yoghurt though)
  4. No alcohol
  5. No carbs after 6.

It really seems to work- I've nearly done a week and lost 5 pounds and I haven't got much to lose (1.5 stone). I like the simplicity and the lack of weighing and counting. For tea I make what everyone else is having but leave off the carbs. Yesterday I had a big bowl of chilli with no rice but roasted veg instead.

You do this religiously for the first two weeks then you add treats and a bit of other things you like. It's really teaching me how to ditch particularly bread and chocolate/ice cream.

It's hardcore but she says in the book to try it for two weeks and then see how it suits. I figured I could do it for two weeks and try something else if I hated it!

On Amazon second hand for cheap I think.
