I haven't lost a single ounce since Xmas...where am I going wrong?!

So, since Xmas, I have been wanting to shed the last stone of baby weight but it simply hasn't happened!

Feeling really disheartened because I weighed myself today, after a month of the 5:2 diet. Nothing. Not lost an ounce. I'm fucking gutted. I have tried everything, I don't know what else there is for me.

I exercise 3-4 times a week, using HASfit which is brilliant. I'm fitter, stronger and healthier than I ever have been. I eat sensibly, 3 set meals a day, snack only in the morning and even then its either a banana or a go ahead bar. I don't eat in the evenings, I've adjusted my TDEE accordingly (changed from an active to an office based job in March) so that I don't overeat. I've reduced portion size.

I tried the cabbage soup diet - lost nothing. Reduced intake to 1200 for a month - lost nothing. I used to go gym 3 times a week, go spinning once a week and zumba once a week - lost nothing. I had to give up the gym for financial reasons but have kept up the exercise. Still, nothing!

I'm at my wits end, I've been in tears tonight thinking all this hard work is getting me nowhere!

Can anyone offer any advice?! Anything is welcome!

For context, I'm 5'8, 10st 13lb (aiming for 10st) and a size 12.

Sorry for the lengthy post! Blush

Have you measured yourself? In inches, rather than pounds? Are yoir clothes fitting better? Maybe you have lost fat, but gained muscle tone?

SilkySocksSinkShips · 21/07/2013 22:55

I guess the muscle tone could be part if it but surely after 7 months of watching what I eat and diets etc, I should have seen even a slight loss?

Measuring in inches is a good idea! I have no clue what my measurements are but if I continue with fasting and measure in another month, I'll hopefully see a difference. Its just so disheartening to not have lost anything after so long trying.

Have you tried low carb ? When I do that properly it really shifts the weight.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/07/2013 11:53

I was going to suggest low carb as well...

Talkinpeace · 22/07/2013 22:42

three meals a day and snacks
hmmmm
I am pretty sure you are eating significantly more calories than you think

HaPPy8 · 23/07/2013 07:11

I think if you are genuinely certain you have been eating as you say, you need to go and see a dr and check there is no underlying medical condition.

HaPPy8 · 23/07/2013 07:13

And 5:2 is only going to help you lose weight if you are within a certain calorie level on your 'normal' food days. You lose weight on that diet by calorie deficiet over the course of the week so if you are eating too much on the '5' days, you will not lose weight if that makes sense.

D0oinMeCleanin · 23/07/2013 07:20

Stop the faddy diets and eat good, whole, unprocessed foods. Drink lots of water. Walk. Lots. When you're done walking, walk some more. Aim for at least 30 minutes a day on top of your normal exercise.

Bananas are great, Go Ahead bars not so great because they are loaded with sweeteners and refined carbs. Breakfast bars in general are not great. If I want to snack I generally go for a high protein, un sweetened yoghurt like Danio, or a small handful of nuts although I am partial to the occasional 9Bar, Flaxseed or Original are best. I would live of those and those alone I could but because they are so sugary I class them as treats and limit myself to a couple a week Sad

Have you thought that after having a baby your body is still settling down

At 5ft 8 I'd say 10.13 is just right & not losing weight is your body's way of telling you this is the size you're meant to be

Carry on with the healthy eating & toning up & give yourself a break!

Chubfuddler · 23/07/2013 07:28

You are not remotely overweight.

If you have been exercising as you say you will have burned body fat and built muscle mass. Muscle is denser than fat so a fit toned woman can be slimmer but heavier than an unfit flabby one.
