Just as the title says, need to lose weight after baby number 3. WW has worked for me in the past, but have been hearing a lot about the 5:2 diet. I think I need the discipline of being weighed ever week though at a class. Thoughts would be really helpful as aiming to lose 2 stone.

Hi, I have just started Weight Watchers and lost 3lbs in my first week. Not a huge amount but I feel happy and actually not deprived or miserable so it's definitely something I can sick to.

I have found their books and journal really really good. I have found that logging everything I eat and calculating the points is extremely beneficial and really does help me keep track and keep focused.

I have about 5 stone to lose though Blush but for the first time in my life I feel in control of what I eat. I feel satisfied with what I'm eating and the way weight watchers works really does encourage you to make healthy choices but you don't feel like you've completely screwed up if you do have a takeaway.

You will get a weekly allowance of 49 points to either use on one huge blow out or divide up throughout the week and use on whatever foods you like or fancy. This has been the key to it with me. Before I joined, I'd restrict myself so much and then fall off the wagon, eat an enormous dominos pizza to myself and then feel like I'd failed so just continue to eat badly and never quite managed to keep motivated for long enough to stick at it. With weight watchers you're allowed to eat a huge dominos pizza but just keep track of the points, use your weekly allowance and then keep to the daily points the next day. Not sure if that makes sense but for me it is so much nicer knowing I can have treats without thinking I've screwed up and never bothering to get back on track because I've 'failed'. With Weight Watchers I can eat a KFC once a month if I feel like it and still stick to my points allowance which means I stay on track rather than eat a KFC everyday!

It's early days for me but so far I am finding it easy and actually enjoying what I'm eating. I've also started to incorporate more activity and power walking into my day. I am actually enjoying this too.

Good luck, with only 2 stone to lose you should find it quite simple.

Thank you so much, that's it will go to meeting tomorrow, good luck to you with your weightloss. Your eating sounds just like mine. Here's to us. We will do it.

I found WW good as a way of losing baby weight (x2). What I don't think it's so good for is changing your way of eating. It encourages you to swap foods for low calorie or low fat options of the same stuff to stay within your points a lot of the time rather than really addressing the core of bad eating. So for me, it was good where I had put on weight through circumstance, but wouldn't have been good if I had long term issue with how I ate IYSWIM.

Yeah know what you mean, think I'll lose the baby weight with it and then look into the 5:2 diet.
