Fatties on C25k

Well last night I did the first session in the C25k programme and am feeling very proud of myself as I'm 4 stone overweight and haven't run since I was at school.

Wasn't easy but wasn't as hard as I was expecting either. Is there a c25k support thread already running I can sneak on or anyone want to join me here?

There is one running at the mo giving loads of support but I just wanted to say well done! I am also overweight and found it a struggle at first but now I'm addicted! I actually look forward to running! Grin

Well done. I started it back in Jan, more than 4 st overweight and just wanted to encourage you to stick with it. I had to repeat some weeks but it is do able. Good Luck

Hi! I know this thread is a bit old but I just wondered if anyone else that is carrying some extra weight (like me) is attempting the c25k? I'm size 14/16, 5ft 2, 11st6 and half way through. Anyone else?

I really want to start doing this just not sure if my joints can take it, my hips keep getting inflamed. Do you use a treadmill or just run outside? I'm a similar size to you 'rachtoteach', 5ft 2, size 14/16 and 12st 2 so a bit heavier. How have you found it? Have you lost much weight since starting??

There's a thread here for recent starters.
Lulu, I get inflammation although I'm not overweight - I have a bit of arthritis and some muscular issues. I'm taking it extra slow, so doing 30 sec runs instead of a minute, which seems to be fine so far.
You have to pay attention to your body and not try and push things just to keep up with others.

Hi Lulu,

I've found it challenging, achievable and immensely satisfying!

My weight hasn't gone down, but not up either and I've been eating whatever I fancy!

The best bit is the positive effect on my well-being/mood - I do suffer from the blues from time to time but running knocks that on the head.

Good luck.
