Is it the heat that is adding extra pounds on the scales?

I've been 58 kilos for a few months after successfully dieting. Suddenly I am 61 in this heat.

Is it water retention?

God I hope so. I've been dieting for about 9 days and the scales aren't budging. I certainly feel bloaty with the heat so fingers crossed when the rain inevitably reappears we'll all drop a dress size Grin

Are you drink

peggotty · 16/07/2013 14:52

Oops are you drinking lots of water? If so it's unlikely to be water retention.

You won't put 3 kg of water on, thats almost half a stone.

Have you starting to get a bit complacent tracking....drinking more wine in the garden :) Summer can be notorious for that.

I have been wondering the same thing!

I've been calorie counting and exercising for two and a half months, scales generally moving downwards. But in the last two weeks even though I've upped the exercise, scales have started to persistently creep UP.

I do wonder if its heat related. Or maybe I've just plateaud since I'm a healthy weight anyway, but in any case to see them going up instead of staying the same seems a bit unfair!

I thought it was just me and I'd have to try harder but I'm now hoping for fluid retention. Roll on cooler air

I always retain water in the heat, it has been as much as 4lb in the last couple of weeks, you can see it in my lower legs and feet as I swell up and my shoes dont fit. It's not true that it won't happen if you are drinking sufficient water I'm afraid as I drink lots of water. Mine improves with exercise but doesn't go totally while it is really hot.
I'm sure It will improve after the heatwave,
