What to wear when losing weight?

How do other people manage it?

I'm thinking of just wearing my fat clothes until I can't stand it any more or they fall off (which ever comes first) and then buying a couple of pairs of smaller trousers until I reach my target weight-then I can splurge on nice things. Smile

Much the same as you :)

Although, I do have lots of clothes from when I was going 'up' through the sizes, to now go 'down' through the sizes. That said, I have the kind of job where I live in jeans & combats & rarely need to 'dress up' so it's easy.

I went to a wedding this weekend and I bought an outfit for that and for once, it wasn't such a trauma, which was lovely. I still have a long way to go though.

I stupidly sent all my slightly less fat clothes to charity a few months ago. [idiot]

I'm wearing belts and buying cheap tops off eBay. I find that wearing tips which are too big makes me look fatter rather than thinner, and I'm sick of feeling like a fat frump!

I binned all my smaller clothes a couple of years ago and kicking myself now!!

IvanaCake · 05/06/2013 10:25

Tops, not tips!

ItsallisnowaFeegle · 05/06/2013 10:30

After giving birth I was 2 sizes larger than before pg.

I didn't/ don't want to spend a fortune on new clothes while I try to slim, so I go to charity shops and really rummage.

I've got a few outfits and they'll get me by for now.

I think it's worth getting a couple of things that fit so you look nice, it's a great confidence boost as people will notice and say nice things, which will give you motivation to keep going.

CMOTDibbler · 05/06/2013 10:38

leggings, and belts on trousers/jeans. I've then sold fat clothes on ebay and bought new things on ebay in thin Grin

I would also second the idea of getting something else to wear when you're losing weight. Nothing motivates me more than coming down a dress size! Try not to to just wear large clothes with a belt as this is SO unflattering and tbh, depressing. Shop sales, cheap stores, charity shops. Find at least a couple of items that fit better, or if you can't do it yourself find a friend/relative who can sew and alter/modify your favorite larger clothes so they fit better.

I buy some cheap tops. I bought a couple from Sainsburys at the weekend. Just a couple of plain generic tops that could be from anywhere and are the right size.
Clothes that I've grown out of look really saggy and frumpy. Its much nicer to wear something the correct size.

hugoagogo · 06/06/2013 15:17

I went and bought some cheap jeans in a 16 and they are too small, but my 18s are hanging off me. Sad Confused

They'll fit you in a couple of weeks :)

hugoagogo · 06/06/2013 21:00

Hopefully. Thanks

Hugo I have the same problem! My size 18 jeans are so baggy on my bum and thighs that they look awful. Size 16 ones though are a good few inches off doing up. V annoying because it looks like I'll need to lose another couple of stone before I can get them on!

hugoagogo · 06/06/2013 21:59

Maybe I have stretched them? [shame]
