So confused about different weight loss plans

A few years ago I joined Weight Watchers and managed to lose four stone. I was the slimmest I'd ever been in my adult life and felt great.
Sadly I let it all slide and have put most of the weight back on.
I want to start again but I'm so confused about all the different weight loss plans available.
Should I go back to WW, low carb, 5:2? What's worked for you?

I'm doing slimming world and finding it really easy to follow. Like you I have previously lost weight on weight watchers but found the constant counting irritating after a while. I under it is slightly different now though. SW will only work well for you if you are willing to cook from scratch though. I have lost 12 pounds in the last five weeks with relative ease. Have another 4 stone to go thpugh sadly Sad . Good luck.

I do weight watchers, I do have to count everything but have value diary app on my phone for this. It means I can b more flexible and join in more with meals out, special occasions etc. I have lost just under 2lb a week since feb and have 8lb left to goal. I love my wine and getting a bit pished at the weekend and haven't had to give that up so I don't feel too restricted. I'm not far off a size 10 now having been a 14 for years and it feels amazing. I go to gym classes 3 times a week and walk the dogs for exercise.

My friend at work does slimming world, but she can't eat out if they eat out she has to lose the day, she has started combining the two (so I guess like simply filling or what ever it is on ww) and lost 4lbs last week. It meant she could go out for a birthday meal and not feel she was breaking her diet.

You have to decide what is sustainable for life, whatever you choose has to be something that alters your eating habits forever otherwise the weight will go back on.
I've not done WW or SW, I can't be doing with points and "syns", actually I don't like the idea that any food is bad for you. I have in the past simply calorie counted and lasted a month as I felt constantly deprived.
I started 5:2 in January and have lost weight ever week, I have never stuck to something for so long, plus after the first couple of fasts I found it easy, I don't calorie count on non fast days but I don't binge either. Once I have lost the weight I want to I will move to 6:1 to maintain. I don't eat the low fat versions of anything, take a look at the ingredient lists of some of them!

I'm not saying this is the right way of eating for you, everyone is different but for me it's the one I'll most likely stick to. WW and SW make their money from the food (low fat but full of artificial sweetners and other crap) and people who keep going back to lose the same weight over and over again, my MIL is on her 3rd or 4th attempt at SW.

Have you thought about low carbing, that's not no carbs, just cutting down on the refined stuff, white rice, pasta, bread - there's a number of threads on here for that and having had a look in there they don't sound too deprived!

Good luck!

I'm a bit confused about why anyone would think you can't eat out on sw. You can eat unlimited meat, fish, potato, pasta, rice, veg and salad. And use your syns for alcohol.

But yes there is a reason why no one does sw or ww just the once! They're just not sustainable in the long term for the majority. And they force you into the low fat, lots of added sweetners and chemicals way of eating.

Low carb works, but again not sustainable long term for anyone o know who's done it (myself included!!) We go away to friends houses a lot and low carbing is impossible in these situations.

My latest plan is to eat 3 healthy meals, snack only on fruit in between if I need it and limit carbs to one meal a day. I've given up alcohol for the time being because it really stalls my weight loss. I have the occasional blow out, but am still losing
