So here it is - come and weigh in for the last time and tell us how much you've lost in Bootcamp.

I mix up leftover chicken in a pan with fried up courgette and leek, chopped feta and black olives. Mix in a tiny bit of pesto and bit or cream, can add spinach or cabbage for more bulk. My new discovery - mix up cream and a few frozen raspberries - ta da, ice cream! (Ish...)

spilttheteaagain · 22/03/2013 21:34

That sounds nice littlemiss as does the ice cream

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 22/03/2013 21:47

Bessie - Thanks for looking :) Potato starch - that'll be why it's on the 'try later' shelf :) For other reasons I'm having to totally avoid potato starch.

Spilt - sorry, being tired and dense, of course tartiflette is egg free - duh. I spent seasons living on the bloody stuff Grin - and basically what I've had occasionally recently, but not called it that - twat alert Grin

BIWI Glad to be of service Grin I'm not even slightly competitive about this - I just want the sodding Woosh Fairy to stop bypassing me!! little cow I need to ditch 4kg this month, I have a point to prove to a certain woman!

Thanks or he link to the recipe thread. It's really helpful.

B no
L salad Nicoise: tuna, eggs, anchovies, a v few teeny cherry toms, a slice or two of red onion and lots of lettuce topped off with a big blob of mayo.
D Chicken breast strips and chorizo sautéed then tossed in rocket leaves with parmesan shavings with a big drizzle of olive oil.

Trying hard to drink sufficient water.

I went on a bike ride today to try and get some sensible exercise and when I came back my face was so cold it didn't move when I talked. It was as though I'd had Botox. Grin

Lavenderhoney · 23/03/2013 03:17

Little frieda:)

Splitthetea, if I kept nuts in a pot in my handbag they would be gone at the first set f traffic lights:) I throw babybel in my handbag as I don't really like them so I have to be starving....

I have just realised haven't had a latte since 7 jan. I have a cappuccino instead, once a week, and I loudly say " yes, full fat milk please" which always makes me want to laugh and I don't know why:)

Dh took ds to kids party yesterday so I managed to avoid the kids carb fest:) ds muttered crossly to dh it was all junk food but squashed down some pizza anyway:)

Thanks to all that asked. Dd is getting better. we had arranged to go out for dinner, but invited the hosts to us instead . The lady still insisted on cooking, all beautiful Thai food - she used to be a private chef :) so I did try the carb stuff, like some jasmine rice but only a small amount. She had no idea I was lc though, I hadn't met them before.

Feel totally exhausted, and I need to write down what I do all day and squash in some formal exercising. I think evening will be the only time, but falling asleep with dd isn't helping.

JakeBullet · 23/03/2013 06:30

I have lost a total of 18lbs since 25th February....cannot believe it. So so pleased....and not a single calorie has been counted.

Going to make some Parmesan shortbread this morning and try not to eat it all lol.

Yama · 23/03/2013 08:43

Morning everyone.

The country seems to be in chaos with the snow. We've not got any and haven't had any this winter. At all. Feel a bit left out.

Anyway, after a lovely breakfast of bacon and eggs and a cup of tea, dh has just emerged from his lie in and will be making some nice coffee.

What's everyone doing with the weekend?

After dd's swimming lesson later, we have no plans. What to do? I need inspiration.

BecauseImWoeufIt · 23/03/2013 09:17

Off to my Chinese class shortly and then I really have to go and do my run. I've had a week off as my shins were sore after my last run - my first 25 minute run - and I don't want to get shin splints. I need to run today on a softer surface than the road/pavement - so will have to go to the park - but everything is really wet and muddy so it's not going to be the most pleasant of runs! It's also snowing here too ...

EwanHoozami · 23/03/2013 09:25

Morning all! Just soggy sleet here. I have two poorly small boys and DH is working away so today will feel loooooooooong.

Yama how old are your DCs? Are there any museums or craft fairs etc locally you could go to?

Yama · 23/03/2013 09:36

Dc are 7 and 2. Yes, we will need to get out. The library might be the answer.

Last weekend we stumbled across a Peter Howson exhibition at one of local parks - there is a gallery which usually hosts local children's artwork. Dd has her 'Dragonfly' exhibited there when she was three. Grin

Two poorly small boys doesn't sound like fun. Ds is on his second batch of anti-bios of 2013 due to another ear infection. It's been a bad winter for illness in our house.

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 23/03/2013 09:53

It's snowing here - it looks pretty on the rooftops, but it's too wet on the ground for it to settle.

BIWI - what course are you doing? Sorry to hear about the shins :( Shin splints are horrible. I found that if I walked more slowly to 'warm up/stretch/whatever' my shins didn't hurt, but if I started off really fast they did.

LH - I'm pleased your DD is a bit better - long may it last! Your dinner sounds lovely, I love Thai food especially pad thai.

BlackAffronted · 23/03/2013 10:47

Chipping, I feel your frustration :( I was like that weeks 2 to 7, I didnt seem to be shifting weight. I waited (though not patiently haha) and it finally started to come off again. I do think some of that is due to the leptin reset I am doing, but the point is that I had to just wait. And wait. I am hoping the whoosh fairy comes to you this week :)

Im off to our nearest city to do some shooping today, and H wants to go to a chinese buffet pace - how will that work for me? :( Hoping there is duck pancakes, so I can have loads of duck & salad.

Bessie123 · 23/03/2013 12:10

yama did you know that recurrent ear infections can be a sign of dairy intolerance?

carbalanche · 23/03/2013 12:53

Hi everyone, just cracked and had a bit of malt-loaf with butter on at a local coffee morning along with a fully caffeinated mug of coffee - whoops!

I am a bit disappointed with myself but I haven't had any breakfast and it's now 12.45 and I need to decide what to eat in damage limitation terms. A few scrambled eggs might be in order.

I don't want to jinx things but I feel I am going through one of those weight-loss periods where even if I have a few cheats I still manage to lose. The scales look very hopeful at the moment but then I put a pound on overnight because I had about 4 glasses of fizz so I must try and not get complacent.

The human body is a strange thing - I think there are times when your body decides to hold on to the weight and times when it decides to let some go. If you've been doing this WOE for a few weeks/months it can be such a surprise to one day see the scales go down and the next go up. I don't fully understand why but I think the key is to keep going for long enough to let your body adjust to this WOE. It's a bugger when you plateau but stick at it! Hang on in there Chipping!

Am intrigued by your Chinese lessons BIWI - are they language classes? I would love to learn another language but spend so much time procrastinating over which one I should learn that I end up learning nothing!

BecauseImWoeufIt · 23/03/2013 12:57

We're following the GCSE syllabus/book, but I am under no illusions that I am anywhere near ready to do a GCSE. I've been doing it for 5 or 6 years now (I have lost count!), but I only have one lesson a week, and don't put much effort or time in, in between, so progress is painfully slow. I'm glad I'm doing it, though as it is so different.

NoelHeadbands · 23/03/2013 13:34

Afternoon all

I spent much of last week pondering why I haven't seen the same losses on this Bootcamp as I have previously. Admittedly there have been food cheats here and there, but then again there always has been!

The big difference has been alcohol and caffeine. When I started LCing last year, I gave both up for about six months. Since Xmas though, there has been a bit of wine and I've started drinking good black coffee, several a day. So on Monday I decided to drop the caffeine.

Luckily I haven't had the brain crushing withdrawal that I had last time, and perhaps it's psychological but I swear I've felt 'different'- you know that empty (but not hungry) 'light' feeling? And lo and behold, 2lb has gone this morning.

Anyone else avoiding caffeine for weight loss?

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 23/03/2013 13:37

Have you also dropped the alcohol?

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 23/03/2013 13:43

Black thank you :) I hope she visits too! Enjoy your chinese - I hope you can find something lc, watch out for hidden sugar! I don't know what to suggest (being vegetarian) but hopefully someone else will be along before then!

Carbalanche thanks :) I'm 'hanging in there' but it's a close thing today, I'm so so so tired, cold and did I mention tired? It's freezing in my kitchen and I just don't want to go in there to make lunch and a 'pack up' dinner - pout. Malt loaf & butter sounds very good :) I mean terrible, you naughty girl - drink lots & lots of water Grin

BIWI that sounds like hard work! How was DS2's 18th?

NoelHeadbands · 23/03/2013 13:45

Yeah I'll be avoiding alcohol for a while but tbh that was only an odd drink here and there anyway, not a regular thing.

spilttheteaagain · 23/03/2013 14:06

Chipping I had another fat thought. Sesame oil? Lovely to dress hot veg with, makes it taste a bit eastern and interesting. And not dairy!

Yama · 23/03/2013 14:20

Bessie123 - I didn't know that, no. Very interesting. Dh is lactose intolerant.

Ds is a stubborn food refuser and will only eat certain things at home - mainly cheese, yoghurt and cereal. Thank God he goes to nursery, he eats everything they give him there.

Dh and I are going to have to take on his food refusal at home. Man, 2 year olds are stubborn wee blighters, aren't they?

NoelHeadbands · 23/03/2013 17:59

Yama I have my own stubborn wee blighted- she's twelve Confused.

She used to be a dream to feed at 2yo as well, so don't worry, things can change!

She gives me the look of death when I tell her she used to pop sprouts in her gob like Smarties.

B - bacon, eggs, tomato and sausages
L - slices of butter spread with potted beef
T - duck breast with bacon and cabbage

Yama · 23/03/2013 19:16

Oh dear Noel, I'd forgotten that children turn 12 at some point. Thinking back it was probably my worst age. I was so right about everything.

Our 7 year old eats everything we give her. We've always had this rule that she at least try what's been cooked.

Anyway, we are going to eliminate dairy for a while and see if ds's constant blocked nose eases. Coconut milk and Provomel vanilla dessert will replace milk and yoghurt. It's worth a try.

Bessie123 · 23/03/2013 19:18

That provomel pudding is delicious, esp the chocolate one.
