The Great Diet Summary

I've been researching different ways of eating/nutrition/lifestyle for a while now as part of holistic medicine and have come to a crossroad- hoping there will be an active discussion as to what constitutes the 'perfect' diet and if it even exists (ie no one size fits all). So the summary is this:
The optimum lifestyle diet needs to take into account:
-calories
-insulin sensitivity (high GI foods etc)
-type of nutrition (protein/carb/fat- and their sources, fermented food, probiotics)
-hormonal balance (decrease in over 40s or PCOS etc makes a midline appearance)
-sensitivities/allergies (gut flora)
-'trendy diets'- fasting, detox, vegan, blood type, heritage and all the common other ones like atkins and similar

Of course then there's exercise which I've only dabbled with so another time for that. My question is- have I covered them all or have I missed out on something horribly obvious (and not). I suppose I'm trying to figure out if there's really a 'right' answer or if its simply 'mindful' eating that helps weight loss in the end...

I honestly think the only successful way for longterm weight loss is Eat Less, Move More. This in itself will change a persons outlook on food, therefore making them reject the crap in favour of water, healthy foods, smaller portions and exercise over a longer period than say, Slimming World.

That doesn't help you at all does it? Confused sorry! Lol

Restarting this thread... I'm actually really studying it- as in back to basics biochemistry etc. It actually is quite a bit more complicated as evidenced by people who claim that they are doing everything right but still not able to shift the weight. Majority will work simply by willow36's advice. But the definition of healthy food in itself is quite complicated- just look at the trans/polyunsats/saturated fat debate. Throw money (pharma) and politics into the picture and it gets more complicated.
I started this as I was just wondering if anyone has heard of anything else that I may have omitted, that I can research (in great depth :))
