What diet do I need?

I need to lose a stone. I've crept up from a small size 14 to a 16 and I'm sick of not being able to get in my jeans. The gain is a combination of having two babies in the last 3 years and working from home where it's easier for me to pick at food.

I've tried the 5:2 diet but it was a disaster. I lost weight on the days I fasted but it all piled on when I ate normally.

I've recently tried MPF but keep losing and gaining the same 5lbs.

A lovely Mnetter recently sent me the Slimming World diet, which I had a great success with over 10 years ago. I lost too much weight on it but it did work for me then.

I looked into the eat more, weigh less diet too but it looks to complicated and I'm busy enough without adding a complicated diet plan to the mix.

I can't low carb as I have low blood pressure and it makes me very poorly if I cut carbs out but I have swapped rice and pasta for wholemeal/

What worries me with the SW diet is the amount of food you can eat on it but I've noticed recently that eating significantly less doesn't work for me.

So, wise Mnetters, any advice?

I'm getting very disheartened at how hard it is to lose weight. It used to be so easy when I was in my 20s!

You dont need any complicated amazing scientific diet, just eat less and move more.

I just do low calories, loads of exercise and I did find MFP gave me that extra boost I needed. Do you do much exercise??

You just need to get on with it, be strict, don't make excuses and do it :)

I am aiming to do the shred every other night. I did it before Xmas and felt much better.

I have started cutting my portion sizes and every other night I have a WW meal or Waitrose's equivalent.

I am also only having a glass of wine on a Fri and Sat night rather than every night.

So I have been making changes but it only takes one bad meal for a pound loss to become a pound gain.
