Anyone had counselling - compulsive eating/binge eating?

I am seriously overweight (20st) and am just about to start some counselling. It has been suggested I suffer from compulsive comfort eating/binge eating.

Does counselling help?

Bumping because I'm wondering too. Tried so many diets and fed up of yo yoing now thinking counselling must be the answer as all else keeps failing but can I afford it and how can I get it!

Welcome.

I have contacted a charity counselling service where you pay what you can afford rather than the normal £40+ per hour. maybe there is something near you.

I am finding it very helpful and have finally stopped putting on weight after 5 years. now to make it go in the opposite direction!

I think it will be worth it.

would love to know how you get on but don't want to intrude. I tried contacting an organisation but caved in as I was worried they might know me or someone who knows me the woman was not giving anything away not even her name.

Make the call. I'm finding it worth it. Today i had another session. Iam more panickiy and snappy with the kids, but this is due to unwanted feelings coming to the surface.

I am facing things like child abuse, attachment issues, self worth( or lack of it!). Some days I can just feel like I can;t be bothered with anything, but despite the difficulty at the moment, I know deep down this is the long term answer.
