I am a bridesmaid in 29 weeks and cant stand to do it fat. It doesnt help that bride and all other bridesmaids are a size 8 and I am an 18. I need to lose weight anyway. My BMI is 35.1. Been trying to calorie count and exercise but loss has been slow - 4lbs in 3 weeks as I keep fucking up. Help!

I am ok for breakfast and lunch but struggle with the time between school pick up and bed. I have a lot of stress in my life right now (excuses excuses) and food\booze makes me feel better!

average weight lose is 2Ibs per week. I think it may be possible but extreme pressure - why dont you work on 1 stone at a time? why not work on a size 14?

Its a battle I cant do low carb, I dont have the time and too expensive. I have cut my carbs and smaller portions. Tend not to buy rubbish so I cant have it.

Plan your meals do a lot of freezing. Get some DVDs, get out more. But I do think do it slow and sensible otherwise you'll lose the will but until you address the food/booze you'll not get there.

It is mind over matter.

I've lost 35lbs in 16 weeks

Low carb I'm afraid.... And running/shred

Minimal wine

Sparkleandshine · 08/03/2013 13:37

think about Lighter life or Cambridge - either will lose this amount of weight in time. You should manage 14lb in the 1st 4 weeks. Then it will go at 2-3lb per week.

disclaimer you need a good plan about how you are going to keep the weight off afterwards, be aware that you are the size you are because of what you eat now so you can't revert back to current diet else it will all go back on again!!

5:2 might be good for maintenance after losing the weight with more extreme methods

Get rid of any junk in the house, meal plan, plan the odd treat in too and don't eat after 7pm if pos.
My bad time of day is about 8/9pm, lately when I've started feeling the urge to pick on something then I've had a glass of water and gone to bed.

Why is low carb out?

SCOTCHandWRY · 08/03/2013 18:04

Why no low carb op? If you can't stick to low fat calorie restricted diet, low carbing, increasing fat and protein could be the perfect thing for you - it stabilises blood sugar and stops hunger/cravings so you don't NEED to break the diet!

Give it a go! Grin

I would think the only wat to lose that much, that quickly would be a VLCD like Lighter Life but expect to put it all back afterwards

SCOTCHandWRY · 08/03/2013 21:42

KM224 I have reported this and your post on the other thread, clearly you are marketing a quick cure diet and not very subtlety either. 2/10

bacon · 10/03/2013 11:24

I'm not doing low carb either and I dont get the hunger/cravings. Sensible eating with more veg less carbs will work too. Any diet has to be a life change not a quick result.

If you substitute white pasta/rice for whole/brown you will also benefit.

weight wise I have lost 2 stone 11 with this plan since july last year. I took part in 15 excercise classes last week and never once felt lacking in energy because I am eating properly, before I would have fallen ill within 4 weeks of starting to lose weight.
The plan is easy to follow and has become second nature to me, all you really need is a set of scales this thread lays out portion sizes really well.

I've found the snacking solution for me is a big bowl of veg sticks - carrots, cucumber, sugarsnap peas, celery for me. Guess quite a few people would add peppers to that. It seems to fill the hole (all that crunching), and keeps me full for longer than fruit, and less calories.

happymschicken · 10/03/2013 21:36

McPie, that looks really interesting.

The diet plan makes total sense and is very similar to Slimming World from what I've seen and what I can remember from when I did it years ago.

Having had a good read, I can see where I'm going wrong. I think I'm consuming far too many 'diet' foods like Go Ahead choc bars etc. Too much sugar and not enough protein.

How have you found the diet overall?

McPie · 11/03/2013 13:35

I find it great for me as I cant eat wheat or most dairy products so I can work my alternatives in to the plan as nothing is set in stone.
My plan is slightly different in amounts as its from the nurse but otherwise its the same. I get to eat 9 carb, 3 meat/fish/eggs, 4 fruit, 4 veg, 3 dairy and 2 fats I also get 140 cals as a snack allowance which was based on my weight of 15st 11lb when I started.
Some days I struggle to eat it all but on the days I workout its a godsend. With the nurse we have looked at the differences for my lower weight now but it would mean dropping one of the few dairy products that dont give me a reaction which I was not willing to do.
It doesn't cost me any more money as I end up eating less than if I free poured my pasta or rice, meat portions are smaller too so it goes further as well.
