Welcome to thread 11 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition.

Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we might have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!

So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several.

Congratulations Bethboo87 :) you can do it x

ppeatfruit · 06/04/2013 12:49

Hello bethboo87 Congrats on the birth Grin Yes of course you can join us you're very welcome Grin I'm getting freaked to think our thread has been here for so long but were you with us before the L.O.?

It is trickier when you're tired but some of us have done and are probably still doing it when tired.

bethboo87 · 06/04/2013 16:05

No I haven't been on this thread before, just recently found it!

Luckily little one is quite good at sleeping at night so though I'm tired I'm not as tired as I could be :)

Been out to get some headphones today so can listen to the trance tonight and going to reread the book later.

So glad it's starting to get a little more sunny! Hopefully can get out and about for some exercise.

ppeatfruit · 06/04/2013 16:18

Yup but even in the house its quite easy to do exercise i find as P.M. says as long as you're doing 'normal' household stuff its fine! Of course if you want to speed things up then the extra helps.

I found just giving up a daily cup of coffee and normal tea meant I lost nearly a stone! without extra exercise but I was busy at the time. I drink nettle tea too to speed up my metabolic rate. whispers (I know it's not proper P.M. but every bit helpsGrin

bethboo87 · 06/04/2013 20:07

Wow! That's amazing, I might try it as I drink far too much tea!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 07/04/2013 07:45

Hello all yup, I'm still pregnant :) not long to go now....

Welcome to bethboo, good to have you on board!

Interesting what you say about caffiene pp. Obviously I've cut down radically since getting pregnant. I wonder if its helped minimise my weight gain?

Hope everyone is well.

bethboo87 · 07/04/2013 09:00

Morning all

Havingalittlefaithbaby - when is your due date? I bet you're excited. Really wish I would've stuck to PM while pregnant but never mind, I'm back on it now :)

Well I reread the book yesterday and listened to the trance when I went to bed but I fell asleep and woke a while later with my headphones still in. I do usually fall asleep but then wake up at the end of the trance when he tells you to. So not sure how well it will have worked??

ppeatfruit · 07/04/2013 09:55

Morning Grin you're up earlier than me bethboo Grin I think you 'sleep learn' so its not a problem at all, it just goes into your subconscious maybe better I don't know.

having Nice to hear from you Grin Yes you probably have been more successful in maintaining the P.M. after cutting out tea and coffee; (I remember my body just went bleurgh even to the smell of freshly ground coffee when I was preg.) According to science caffeine (i just had to look up the spelling I always get it wrong Grin) 'mimics' insulin in your gut therefore making your body hang on to liquids IIRC.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 07/04/2013 10:17

Really?! Mimics insulin? Blimey. That makes sense though!

I've been up since 6 Confused but yesterday I managed to sleep in so there's some balance.... bethboo my due date is 23rd April but I have an irritable uterus according to my MW, so basically have felt like baby might pop out since about 32 weeks! Any time now, although we have a nice day planned seeing an old friend so preferably not for the next few hours!

I definitely agree you 'sleep-learn' with the CD. I always found myself making decisions that were healthier when I'd been listening but I always listen at bedtime! I also found I had an overwhelming desire to exercise that I never had before (I went to the gym but because I thought I should rather than wanted to iyswim).

ppeatfruit · 08/04/2013 10:14

Oh blimey Having That sound like fun Grin I've not heard of an irritable uterus! So your L.O. is due on St George's day I think its on that date I may be wrong!. Glad you're getting SOME sleep.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/04/2013 11:25

Yes, St George's day - though who knows when she'll make an appearance?! I've done a huge amount of (relatively healthy!) batch cooking - chilli, bolognese, stew, mac and cheese that's now frozen so we can eat well but without really thinking about it, I reckon I've done about a mibth's worth now. Therefore I have concluded she can come whenever!

Irritable uterus is far from pleasant but much easier now I've finished work! If we have any more and I'm still on the ward I will definitely pack in work earlier but hey, I've been ok :)

ppeatfruit · 10/04/2013 08:00

Oh dear it's gone quiet again !!!!Is anybody there???

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/04/2013 21:29

Hello!

I'm just watching Secret Eaters (on Ch4+1), very interesting but the participants are in total denial! She reckons she eats about 1600 calories a day but the reality is their portions are huge. They are classics for needing to Paul actually - eating in front of computers, eating til the plates are empty, piling up huge portions. He's even got a gastric band and ignores the full signals to the point he vomits and then goes back and finishes his dinner! I'll be very interested to see how they advise them to change their lifestyle.

I find the whole I have no idea why I'm overweight concept quite bizarre. I know exactly why I've become overweight but happily now know how to rectify that (am now 1 stone 1lb heavier than when I got pregnant!).

ppeatfruit · 12/04/2013 09:02

I so agree Having That is brilliant (the weight loss I mean)!! Morning BTW nice to hear from you I hope and the L.O. are doing well Grin!

I always wonder why some people don't seem able to see themselves. That's where Paul Mckenna comes in of course.

It's down to self hate IMO. Heavy for this time of the day.! But If he can hypnotise someone to forget their abusive childhoods then he's done something incredible.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 12/04/2013 09:17

It was actually good - they advised them on healthier choices, eating at the table with the laptops away...I still dunno about longevity without a support system in place.

Bless my Dad but he's proven me right about slimming clubs. About 18 months ago he joined SW. He wasn't huge, had maybe lost 1 1/2 stone. He'd maintained for a while but now it's creeping back on again. Instead of going back to get back on it he's avoiding going because he'd have to pay again! I am tempted to join next week while still pregnant so I can be Slimmer of the week after I have the baby though!!!

I've just sung Paul's praises on a thread in chat with someone who wants to lose weight! :) I really can't imagine doing it any other way now!

ppeatfruit · 12/04/2013 09:49

Well done you i was on a similar thread yesterday (i must stop though I'm on here too much and I have so much housework to do Grin) but they're weird ,one was talking about having diet food delivered (crazy) she said she'd tried P.M. for a week and it didn't work !! I tried to explain but I gave up Hmm!!

ppeatfruit · 12/04/2013 09:51

Have you told your DD about P.M.?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 12/04/2013 14:30

He knows I've been doing it but he's been at SW the whole time and was quite focused. Maybe I'll introduce the concept! :)

ppeatfruit · 12/04/2013 14:44

Yes if he's open minded, its never too late to change! He must 've noticed that you've lost weight (though maybe not because of your prgn. Grin). Is there a way you can casually leave the book about?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/04/2013 16:14

Casual hints/subtlety don't go down well with my Dad, bless him! I will instead just offer to lend him the book and cd since I doubt I'll have much time to focus on them in the next few weeks! :)

ppeatfruit · 13/04/2013 17:11

I wish the C.D. was more neutral or aimed at men and women 'cos I know DH would be more likely to listen if that were the case! The diary is good because it has photos of both sexes who've lost loads.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 14/04/2013 20:55

Well after a rather quick turn of events I am a Mummy! Abigail Faith was born this morning at 7.22am. Waters went last night. Thought labour was getting going at 3.30am only to discover I was 1cm dilated so they induced me at 5.30. About 7 I declared I needed to push - out she popped! She is a bit dinky at 5lb 4oz but seems fine (ok she's perfect!). :)

ppeatfruit · 15/04/2013 09:25

OOOOOOOOH OOOOMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! BLESS HER HOW FABULOUS !!!!![GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN] I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT YOU!!!!

OUR LITTLE PAULETTE ABIGAIL FAITH IS BORN!!!!!

She's a bit early but she'd obviously had enough what with the irritable uterus and all!!!

You sound soooo together have you got yr laptop in hospital with you? Is it the one where you work? Sorry you must be shattered have a lovely sleep don't bother to answer until you feel able.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 15/04/2013 13:21

Hello! Thank you PP! I'm on my phone in the hospital. Yes it's the one I work at but obviously different area. We are still getting to grips with BF what with her being tiny so topping up with formula but she's latching better so confident we'll get there.

ppeatfruit · 15/04/2013 14:28

So long as its little and often because it will only be colostrom ATM. Usually your milk comes in in a couple of days the more YOU feed her the better she'll get at it (like anything!) practice makes perfect!! Grin How long before you go home?
