Someone help me with my awful eating. I don't know how/what to eat.

I work from home and find myself munching all day. The problem is that I just eat chocolate and crisps.

What snacks can I eat. It never crosses my mind to eat fruit for example. I just wasn't brought up that way and I just don't buy healthy snacks.

So, what do I buy so that I have healthy snacks available. I'm not into dried fruit and the only fruit I like are berries, satsumas and grapes.

Ginger oat biscuits by Nairnshire. Yum. And slow release energy compared to chocolate :)
I know how you feel. Strawberry laces fan here

Berries, satsumas and grapes are perfect. Grapes and berries in particular are pretty good for grazing. If I really need something to fill in gap, I'll have a couple of slices of toast with a cup of tea. It feels more substantial than fruit and providing you only have say two slices and that's your morning snack, you'll be fine. Sometimes, just making a hot drink does the trick as it's just a bit of distraction you want.

I'm also pretty strict and don't often buy 'treats' in my general food shop that way if I really want a chocolate bar, packet of crisps, etc. I have to make a special trip. When I did used to buy them, my weaknesses were bags of wine gums and liquorice allsorts. If I did buy them, they'd end up disappearing in under 24 hours and I wouldn't even realise I'd had so many. Now, if I have to make a special journey, I'm more aware and will only do it if I'm really craving something.

If you don't have snacks in, you'll find you can get by without as many. It's almost like, if the temptation's not there, you realise you're not really that hungry anyway.

I am trying higher protein snacks to fill me up like two oat cake crackers with peanut butter or 50g low fat hummus with plain bread sticks.

Alternatively a crunchy carrot is a favourite snack around here, we go through a big bag of raw carrots a weekly (alongside doughnuts etc, lol)

eat some decent meals and you won't want to snack. Porridge or muesli with milk and fruit for breakfast, sandwiches or beans or toast for lunch and a decent evening meal. And as you are your own boss, you can control your breaks, so you can go out for a brisk walk and get some exercise.

if it's not in the house, you can't eat it. So don't buy rubbish.

Just buy fruit instead of crap. It's not hard.

Nuts-I love pistachios
Seeds like pumpkin, sunflower
Carrot sticks with low at cream cheese
Natural yoghurt with berries
Oatcakes with mackerel pâté
Eggs
Wholemeal toast with a nut butter
TeaTeaTea
Coffee

If you stop eating sweet stuff for long enough, you will lose the sweet tooth and feel loads better.

Agree with special

If you eat good meals, you will often not need to snack. Find other treats, try not to see food as a reward- maybe a good book, do your nails, have a walk, watch tv, phone a friend.

STOP SNACKING
Your body only needs fuel a couple of times a day and needs to rest and digest in between.

stop buying the junk
miss out the whole aisle of the supermarket
or print out your online shop and DELETE the junk before pressing 'order'

I work from home at my desk - all day in fact today.
I was fasting so had five cups of tea and that was it till my 450 calories supper.
And that's it now till the morning when I have more tea.

STOP SNACKING
Snacks were invented by the food industry to sell more product.
There is absolutely no medical evidence in favour of regular snacks.
