I am looking to lose weight, and I know following things like weight watchers don't work for me. I am looking at setting myself some limited food options for the week so even if I'm tempted, I can't go too wrong because of what's physically in the house. This is what I've been having for the last week and want to find out if I'm safe/healthy/ok to continue on this way.

Breakfast
2 scrambled eggs on a piece of wholegrain toast
Banana
Glass of Apple Juice

Lunch
Tin of soup - has been baxters this week - carrot and coriander, chicken broth and some sort of vegetable one this week (I can make my own too, lots of veggies)
2 dry slices of Ryvita with matchbox size of cheese

Dinner
Chicken breast/palm sized steak or gammon steak or a tin of tuna
with either veg or salad and a jacket potato. Also had some oven chips to change it up, and have some rice I can use too.

I don't really have a sweet tooth, but have a bar of dairy milk in the freezer broken into squares and some mint choc chip icecream in there too for when I fancy it. I don't tend to snack either if I have sensible meals - I just seem to eat too much of the wrong stuff each meal :(

Does the above look balanced? Any suggestions to change it to make it healthier?

hi secret I have no idea apart from the SW diet i try to follow (badly)

The only thing I can think that might add some pounds is th soup 'its more fattening than people think' But at the same time I also believe everyone has their own nemesis (mine is bread) which their body doesnt like and affects their diet. Im still trying to find the magic wand a way to lose weight without doing too much exercise (have CFS so cant do to much).

Hope you loose it, Im going to be brave and start my own food diary/plan but not brave enough to put it on here!

make your own soup and ditch the tins. its quick, easy, fills you up and is much healthier. add stuff like barley, well softened lentils and some beef or lamb. aah nothing like a good scotch broth and now i'm off to make soup before i get homesick. if you can help it don't eat processed anything and then you know exactly whats in your dinner

This is how I was told to eat 'properly' as I was told by the dietician that I wasn't eating enough

Breakfast
1 piece of fruit
1 portion of cheese, sugar-free and non-fruit yoghurt/fromage frais
About 40g bread, with the equivalent of a catering portion of butter

Lunch
Crudités/veg soup
1 portion of meat/fish/eggs
1 portion of rice/pasta/bread/feculents - beans, lentils etc
As much non-starchy veg as required
1 portion of fruit
1 dairy product as for breakfast
Some bread - depending of size of rice portion

Dinner
As for lunch

Daily 1-2 tbsp of different veg oils eg sunflower, rape seed, olive

I found it very hard going to eat as much as she said I should do.

According to her, nothing is to be forbidden, the secret is in eating a balanced diet.

Disclaimer: It was a dietician in France, and they have one of the lowest rates of obesity.
