i am suffering a dip in motivation at the moment, mainly to exercise.

i know that i need to be active, eat better, and lose weight for my own health and well being as well as my family. However sometimes i just need that extra nudge...

There are lots of such things on the web, but it would be good to hear what has resonated with you.

slimming world has always worked for me (going back on diet today as fed up of putting weight back on) but if you go on it you have to almost stay on it for life (sigh)

I struggle with exercise because of health but when I was able to, I done slimming world and went to the gym 3 times a week (looked awesome for a while {more sighs})

I think its about finding the right balance for you of eating healthy and doing the exercise you can, like today I am working not far up the road so will walk there rather than taking the car.

Hope your motivation comes back.....hope i find mine

maybe we could motivate each other?

Don't be like me. I lost 1.5 stone which was half way towards my target. Went through a very stressful time in the spring, stopped exercising and stopped weighing myself. Had a feeling I had put on some weight but thought it was just a few pounds, got on the scales I have put on all the weight that I lost and more. Sad

The good thing is I started on My Futness Pal straight away and will start the exercising at the weekend.

My target is one stone by 14th October, 2 stone by Christmas and target weight (total loss of 3 stone 4 lb) by Easter.

My problem is staying on track when I'm stressed. I think I have to ensure that I just weigh myself regardless, seeing I have put on a few pounds is a real motivator for me.

Another thing is I think we need to be tough on ourselves. Everyone else is far too nice, pretending that they can't notice the weight gain and being sympathetic. I need someone to tell me to get a grip and get rid of the flab.

ditto bonnie, Ive just weight myself and seen I need to lose about 3 stone to get to my target weight...Not sure I might aim for 2 stone and see how comfortable I feel before setting a final target weight.

I think the idea of smaller targets first is a good idea, although Im maybe aiming for loosing a stone by November (exercise is an issue due to heath but have vowed to walk more and drive less as a start)

yy to smaller acheiveable targets!
I am aiming at the next half stone off by christmas. (i'll be happy if its off sooner, but i seem to lose weight slowly and need a realistic, for me, goal)

which reminded me of this:

"success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out"
Robert Collier

every meal and snack time it is a effort to keep the portions down, not eat dc leftovers and not give in to temptation!
but hopefully will add up to losing fat, feeling and looking better...success!

"i'm not telling you its going to be easy, i'm telling you its going to be worth it"

oh i hope so!

"yesterday you said tomorrow"
-Just Do It, Nike.

"wow, i really regret that workout"

  • No-one Ever.

that one actually made me laugh. its true.

Think i'm going to start sticking this on the fridge door.

My pc desktop background is a picture with the words...

"Stop whinging and get the fuck on with it"

Creamtea1 · 05/09/2012 21:43

Top tip - weigh yourself every day. Also keep your liquid intake up and remember nothing tastes as good as slim feels (bit controversial but true)

NoMoreCake · 07/09/2012 15:30

i was whinging (in my head) and avoiding exercise, by being on here, until I read Itwillendinsmiles post. Then i just got the fuck on with it!

This may help you get your DP to support you!

You can do it!

I am feeling pretty pleased with myself. I started low-carbing on 16 June (at 11 stone 5) and have now lost 20.5 lbs. I'm only 2 lbs away from a BMI of 25. I weigh 9 stone 12.5 and am aiming for 9 stone. I feel so much happier and when I exercise, it's so much easier (except for walking because I have to carry 6mo DD in the sling, so roughly the same). What's more, I did this with a small baby, and carried on bf. I did it, and you can too! If low-carb interests you, try reading Escape The Diet Trap by Dr John Briffa, or come over to the Bootcamp thread for advice and support.

Now, exercise on the other hand...I walk the dog most days (sometimes when it's raining I just throw tennis balls for him in the garden) for 45 mins to an hour, carrying DD, on fairly rough terrain. However, that does nothing to get rid of the baby belly. I need to start doing something like the 30 Day Shred, but I can't seem to start.
