Can anyone tell me the benefits of attending yoga classes at my gym? I tend to go step and spinning classes but they are getting a little bit boring and I fancy trying something new. Forgive me for my ignorance but will yoga help to tone me up and if so, how often do I need to do it? Sorry for all the questions Blush.

Well now I went to a yoga class quite recently as my back and shoulder give me bother due to my job (sitting down at a comp all day) and after one session the pain went!

It came back 2 weeks later so I went again and once more...the pain went!

It's a long class generally,,,,mine was 90 minutes. It is good for flexibiltity and helps even your internal organs stay in shape!

Toning would come but you have to stick to it...some of the more "full on" styles of Yoga are better for muscle tone..such as Ashtanga Yoga. But I went to an ordinary class.

Great for everything - and good for weight control too (not sure if we are on that subject?). But you have to do it every day to make a difference. It calms you down, keeps you supple and sorts out aches and pains (computer-related shoulders etc). Plus you stop wanting to put the wrong stuff into your body (it really does become a temple!). Great when you are getting on in years, but I wish I'd started a few decades earlier! Ashtanga is a bit fast a furious for me now, so Iyengar is the solution. It's never boring as the classes are always different each time - very challenging, but worth it. Yes, it will definitely tone you up. Great for posture - no need to become an 'old lady' as the years go by!!
