It's nice to share weight losses with others instead of sticking to our "own" threads.

What on earth is the Cambridge diet? That seems a huge weight loss to me!

lazycow · 09/03/2006 12:07

Wow mummyvicky that is great. LL is very fast but I know it is not a long term solution. I just have so much weight to lose (weighed 17st 10lbs) and want to lose as much as possible in 3 months as we want to ttc again and I'm already 41 years old. I also want to be back on a normal diet for a month or so before we start ttc so I don't have a lot of time [smile)
When I have finished the 3 months I am aiming to do the Paul Mckenna way as it sounds really sensible and sustainable long term to me.

Tangerincath - yes I think it is pretty extortionate really - though it does work !!
We are not spending any more money on food though as I was eating so much before Blush and I don't eat anything apart from the packs now.

If I were to do this again I'd do the cambridge diet - much cheaper but pretty much the same and more flexible. I didn't really find out about it until I had started LL though so felt it better to just continue with this for now - only 9 weeks to go.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the 'what have you lost' thread

SPARKLER1 · 09/03/2006 12:08

Is it better to lose it slowly like me Blush Blush or quickly like some of you have done? Envy

OP posts:
yoyo · 09/03/2006 12:10

Sparkler - I have only ever read that slow weight loss is better. Don't know if there are any stats to back it up though.

lazycow · 09/03/2006 12:12

sparkler1 - people say it is better to lose slowly and that is probably true. I think the reason behind this is that you do it by learning better eating habits and can keep those up long term.

In a way I agree, but I have lost 3+ stone several times before and have always put it back on again and it seems to make very little difference whether I lost the weight slowly or fast so given all my other reasons for losing weight quickly I just went for the fastest (though not the easiest option)

My main challenge this time is keeping the weight off - which is what I am focussing on a plan of action for.

staceym11 · 09/03/2006 12:39

29 lbs in 8 weeks. Not following any diet specifically but the principles of the Food Doctor (on Richard and Judy before Christmas) basically eating 3 meals (smaller portions than I used to) and snacks (complex carb and protein) in between. It seems to work as I'm never hungry and haven't had cravings yet. Have been really focussed and am over the moon about it! Only another 3 stone to go!!

RubyMummy · 09/03/2006 20:32

15lbs since Jan 1st with WW. And i thought that was good til i read this thread! Sad

karenferris · 09/03/2006 22:08

Wow, I've jst read through this thread and feel like I should get going on shedding a few stone!! Have just read the Paul McKenna book (kindly given to me by my mother in law Angry) and I think I will have to give it a go.

Thanks for the inspiration and good luck to you all! Grin

I've lost around 8 lb in 2 weeks by changing our diet to a vegetarian, home cooked non- processed, organic food. I have porridge for breakfast,a healthy lunch usually just cheese salad or something because i'm still full up from the porridge then dinner is something I cook out of my vegetarian cookbooks, tonight we had chickpea burgers with taboulah. I don't eat between meals anymore and this has been the only diet/lifestyle change where I am not obsessed with food or crave it. I can honestly see us eating this way for life and don't feel deprived at all and I'm still drinking the odd bottle of wine as well.
