Workouts for hotel rooms?

I travel a lot with work and could do with some sort of a workout that I could do in my hotel room. I don't always stay somewhere with a gym and unfortunately siting on my arse all day and then eating hotel/conference type food isn't great.

So, I think it needs to be something that...

... can be downloaded onto my iPad or played on my laptop
... doesn't require much space
... doesn't require equipment (apart from perhaps a hotel towel)
... doesn't include too much jumping around (don't want to get complaints)

Any ideas?

I've just tried to google your title and found a lot of information on the net. I also think that most of hotels let you use their swimming pool and gym for free. Also while travelling people tend to walk more as they want to see a lot so you'll have workout naturally anyway. Wishing you good luck :)

I've done the shred dvd in my room when i've stayed away (i have the same problem) - tend to do it before dinner as most people aren't in their rooms then. Or the zumba dvds are good.

Alternatively fast walking/running if you're some where where you can do that.

Have you seen the TRX? it is a piece of equipment but it packs down into quite a small bag. I have one and always take it on holiday and won't get to a gym, so I use it and/or run.

It's an amazing piece of kit, I think it was designed by a navy seal to take wherever necessary and provide a workout. You can hook it over a door to use inside, or wrap it round a tree or climbing frame outside. It's incredible for core strength in particular but there are hundreds of exercises you can do with it. Lots of personal trainers use them these days so if you are interested see if you can get a half hour session for them to introduce you to it.

Oh, if you do get a trx make sure you have the door anchor, it doesn't always get included. Keep an eye on eBay and amazon for best prices.

There is a hotel room body weight workout on nerd fitness.com. Ideal for small spaces and using what furniture is likely to be there.

i just look at workouts on youtube and play them

Have a look at ww.hasfit.com . They have a great selection of free exercise videos and the only equipment needed is a pair of dumbells ( I use cans of soup).

I stumbled across this website when I was looking for some low impact exercises as I have a knee problem. They seem to have videos suitable for all levels of fitness though.

I have got the perfect workouts for you - The initial outlay is expensive but brilliant.

P90X - its a whole workout system. 13 DVDS (BUT it can be downloaded as an app so you don't need to lug that around). It has lots of resistance work, three cardio workouts and a yoga workout. You can do it all with a work out band. The workouts are between 60 - 90 mins each.

I really really recommend it. If you go on www.teambeachbody.com you can see previews.

I took some dvd's and a workout band on holiday this year to Ibiza and it was a great way to workout.

Or if you would take some dvd's in your suitcase then Chalean Extreme is a bit more lady friendly and that can all be done with a workout band too. There are less workouts but its still a great workout. Its shorter too with each workout being between 35 - 45 mins. As its mainly resistance work there is very little jumping.

I am a big fan of team beach body and have done loads of there different programmes that they sell. They are high quality tough workouts that can be done at home.

I don't work for them by the way!!

I got into running simply for going away with work. Now before I go I go on mapmyrun and find some routes nearby the hotel. Is working for me so far! Otherwise I would probably do some Pilates in my room. I've done enough lessons on that now that I could make my own little routing to go through, but there are plenty of DVDs around.
