A few questions about Shred

  • Do you all wear trainers? I tend to do it bare foot, is this bad?
  • In the introduction she says "I've put together a progressive workout and diet system to help people like you lose weight and feel great". I wasn't aware there was a special Shred diet - is anyone following it?
  • Is there any way to skip the introduction bit?
  • I'm getting comfortable-ish with L2 now. I'm soaked in sweat by the time they come to do the double crunches and I'm screaming at the squats with V press bits near then end, but I can do it all, apart from the bits where I'm let down by my co-ordination :o. Is L3 much harder - when am I likely to be able to move up?

I think level 3 is actually easier than the hell which is level 2!!

Think trainers are best as you are doing weight bearing exercises and jumping jacks etc

This is what is stopping me re starting shred! New house, new beige carpets and old muddy trainers. Might buy some just for shred.

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 11:19

Try moving up now and see what you think

Wish I was as good at level 2 as you!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 05/08/2012 12:20

I did Level 1 barefoot and suffered no ill effects. Then I fell off the wagon and am too scared of Level 2 to restart. [wimp emoticon] I did it barefoot because I was reading about barefoot running and building calf/foot muscles. Oddly, yesterday DH commented on how defined my calves are - I don't think it can be 7 days of Shredding over about 3 weeks! More likely to be hillwalking carrying 15lbs or so of baby in sling.

StealthPolarBear · 05/08/2012 12:51

yes, I think trainers might be a good idea.
Never sure when to move up tbh, but am starting to lose interest a bt and so am wondering whether this might challenge me

Yes, move up. As Olympia says, level 3 is widely thought of as "easier". More toning and defining as well. I have never worn trainers for shred or any other exercise DVD.

StealthPolarBear · 05/08/2012 13:44

last bump

oh sorry x post
Really - level 3 is easier?? Maybe I should stay at 2 then! And glad to know I'm not the only one who does it barefoot

when i did shred MNers on thread were all advising to wear trainers. so i switched. i think your less likely to slip in lunges etc and the cushioning in trainers helps with the jumping.

i think i did look up the meal plan, but didn't follow it and cant find it now.

there is a link here for the ripped in 30 meal plan. its pdf.

HTH

thanks - I will have a look. Don't think I'll actually do it mind, was just curious as I've headr a lot about the exercise but little about the diet

Level 3 is still tough, it is just more of a fluid workout I felt and way more effective.
Go for it.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 06/08/2012 11:55

I find level 2 quite tough because of the intensity of it all.....i must admit my knees havent been that great lately because of the lunges so I havent shredded for a week or so.......maybe I will move onto L3 and see how that is.

I noticed ripped in 30 was on the fitness channel a couple of weeks ago so plussed it...may give that a try at some stage too.

Still prefer my spinning and poling but Jillian is very good!
