Escape the Diet Trap: Challenge

I have decided to try out the Escape to Diet Trap (although apparently not a diet) diet.

I've had a turbulent few months and this has resulted in me gaining nearly a stone. Which I know isn't a huge amount but my clothes feel tight and I feel wobbly and I have little patience and simply want the extra weight gone.

So I'm wondering who might like to join me, or just laugh at my progress?

I'll get started by telling you about myself. Over the last two months I have had a unplanned pregnancy. This resulted in me comfort eating and adopting the attitude that I may as well enjoy it as I'd probably not have another baby. So I ate and ate and yep...ate some more. I then had a miscarriage which has left me feeling rather battered emotionally - so once again I ate.

Here are my stats
Mother - one DD 18 months
Weight - 9.5 stone
Target - 8.7 stone
To loose: 12 pounds

Lets see how many eggs I can stomach.

Good luck, its a great way of eating although if you want to lose weight best not to eat too many nuts!

Day 1: Not too bad. Not perfect either.

Saying that I've not actually finished reading the book yet so I might be missing a few tricks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all carb free. I confess I ate a macaroon but it was tiny and my DH made me do it!

Target for tomorrow to go for a run and to not eat a macaroon.

sorry but lolling at 'day 1 all carb free except for the macaroon!' Grin

I'm doing this too and confess to more than 1 square of dark choc...

Hey. You should come join us here - it's basically a Briffa thread in that we're low carbing to the extent that each person feels happy with and trying to avoid wheat and sugar. I also often find myself spouting advice straight from Escape the diet trap and his blog. I find it much easier when I've got like minded people to chat to.

am trying this but day 2 and already flagging. Feel wierd now slightly sick and no energy. Still having some low GI carbs though, brown rice, sweet potatoe and oats.

Day 2: Stared well! I've been for a run and eaten a low carb breakfast. Just munched a small handful of nuts that will hopefully keep me going until lunch time.

Briffa suggests rather than a high intensity exercise that you get walking. However I enjoy running so will continue with this but at a reduced rate. Which isn't hard as I've lost a lot of fitness and gained a lot of fat over the past two months so am naturally slower.

Stats:
Weight - 9.3 stone
Lost - 2lbs
Target - 8.7 stone
To loose: 10 pounds

Just as an after thought I've noticed that there are new and varied challenges to dieting with a child.

  1. Resisting there efforts to feed you there porridge at breakfast time
  2. Still having to prepare carbs

Anyone know how to make a breadless scotch egg, preferably without frying?

Day 3:

Didn't start too well as I weighed exactly the same as on day two (9.3 st) and felt a little disappointed. While I know sensible diet advice suggests you weigh yourself once a week I find daily weigh-ins a good way to keep me on track and focused on the goal.

On the plus side I did a good amount of exercise yesterday, a morning run and bit of walking. The heat also meant I didn't want to eat very much. As I was going out I ate a fast and sleazy supper of a handful of cherry tomatoes and a couple of pieces of crispy-coated-chicken-thing - shames to say I enjoyed in quite a lot!

Anyway exercise, heat and crispy chicken have paid off and I weighted in at 9st this morning. Just got to try and control my weekend eating Hmm

Don't think I have lost anything, think I am not being strick enough. Ate 2 bananas yesterday, one before a run and one at bed time. Other than that I had brown rice and curry for tea, the rest was low carb. Had berries and yogurt, cheese omlete at lunch, water and nuts.
Think I do generally feel good though, maybe a bit more perky and deffo not hungry infact had to make myself eat at certai points of the day. JB does say not to let yourself get hungry or else you are tempted by carbs.
How you doin today Chell?
