Hello! I was looking into slimming pills and shakes however think they're a bit of a bad idea - they can't be great for your health and once you stop using them, you're bound to pile on the pounds.

When I voiced my concerned to my friend about my weight, she informed me that a healthy diet and regular workouts is key (she also suggested joining a group like slimming world for motivation!). I'm a sucker for a takeaway on a weekend and definitely lack motivation to eat healthy!

Hope this helps :-)

Hi Emma, my tip is home-made soups and salads. It worked very well for me but I started to add bread, tea with biscuits and gradually I ruined what I've achieved. Trying this again now. Just literary put some veg whatever you have at home with garlic, spices, tiny sea salt sometimes, herbs and eat it for lunch every day. In Summer you can make cold soups but I prefer hot if it's not too hot, like now. When I wake up I have hot water with lemon and then fruit or veg for breakfast, soup/salad for lunch and smaller portion of family dinner with salad/veg, fruit for puds and coffee with 1 teaspoon of honey max twice a day.
Hope this plan will help me to get where I've left. Some time ago I've managed to loose 10 kg with aerobics and good food regime but I slowly gained 11 kg. So I'm trying to do something I can stick to this time. I feel it's the whole life work, not a quick fix. At least in my case when both my parents and my grandparents were fat most of their lives. I don't blame it or anyone, I just know I have to work very hard and at the moment my target is slowly get rid of 7 kg and stay that way. Staying slim is much harder for me then to loose weight but I have to say this time around it takes me ages to loose weight and it is really slow. Wishing you good luck, very happy if you'd like to join me. I'm just trying to do it the way I can carry on so I'm really flexible with the ideas. I know I wouldn't be able to sustain slim fast or any diet which I find I can do for a short time. Any diet and work out is okay, all we can do is try what we can do.

Thanks friendly7.. Salads are definitely the way forward for me and smaller portions of potato/ pasta when i have it! Im doin alot of reading up on these threads at the moment on low carb and ive just joined a thread on it!
Very hard for me to keep weight off too, it slowly creeps back if i fall into old habits!
We must keep going! :)

You are very welcome Em. Good luck with the low carb. I absolutely have to have a lot of fruit as I love fruit more than any sweets. So I don't think I'm qualified to join there but I'm sure the idea there is fantastic and you'll have a fantastic success!!!

Hi Emma.
I have lost over 4 stones. I would definitely agree with no diet pills. There is no need for them ,you can do it without them.
My tips are -
eat smaller portions. Use a smaller plate.
eat healthy, cooked from scratch, mainly [or all] unprocessed foods. No readymeals eg.
At least 5 portions of fruit/veg per day.
I'm teetotal, but if you drink then keep it to a minimum, and look at the calories of whatever you drink
Lots of exercise. Find something that you enjoy doing. Ideally you should do some cardio and some resistance training
Find a way of eating that suits you. A low carb diet may suit you. Remember you don't have to follow any specific diet, you can always adapt it to your own tastes.
Best of luck!

I am vegetarian, so I worked my diet around that. I basically reduced all the high calorie foods I eat [like bread, cheese etc] and add more veg, salad etc. Also cut out reduced severly all the little treats like biscuits etc.
Personally I don't like fatty foods so a low carb diet isn't for me. Things like cream and butter and lots of eggs make me feel sick. So I still eat some things like wholemeal bread and potatoes, and a small amount of fats eg olive oil, cheese. I eat things like cottage cheese, nuts, quinoa, lentils and beans for protein.
My general rule is to just eat healthy natural foods in smaller portions, and to reduce snacks. It works for me. Not only have I lost weight [BMI now 25], I am also much fitter than I as, I look and feel well and my blood results were good for a woman of my age.
A lot of people find things like my fitness pal helpful, though I did it without that. I didn't really want to feel that I was going on a diet, instead I wanted to find a way of eating that I could stick to indefinitely.

I should add, a major change for me was to stop eating things like mayo, coleslaw and savoury things like crisps. I was a major crisp addict and now I don't miss things like that.
