Suggestions for low calorie food

Hi, I'm trying to lose weight with the help of the 'my fitness pal' app which counts calories. I've been with weight watchers and slimming world on and off for so long, I've lost sight of what foods are actually low in calories, rather than points, syns etc!
Anyone have any suggestions to help stop me going over my daily calorie allowance?
Looking for breakfast and lunch ideas mainly (and snacks!)

Watching with Interest as im using the same app. I have porridge for breakfast as soup for lunch. It's a revelation that each slice of bread is 100 cal! I only have one slice now with the soup and no butter. One teaspoon of butter is something like 50cal!

Snacks obviously fruit is good. Oranges plums apples etc. do you like carrots? A peeled raw carrot is nice. I say nice... It's not exactly a large dairy milk.. Sigh...!

Hi, heidihole. I'm munching a carrot stick while I wait for my tea to be ready! Yum! Really like the app, it is scary though when you see how many calories are in things Shock
Thanks for the soup reminder - I used to make vats of it in the winter and seeing as the weather is pants I might just start again!

I am doing this too. I have been eating quorn sausages (70 cal each), grilled, with cherry tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms.

Also chilli, made with small amount of beef, but lots of small pieces of butternut squash and other veg to pad it out.

Use the low cal spray to cook and have cut out sugar in drinks.

Eggs are brilliant - a large egg has 100 calories, but they are so filling.

Tesco/Morrisons sell small pots of hummus (reduced fat) which are nice with carrot sticks.

Good luck.

Oh, and curly wurlys are good, if you must have chocolate

Huevos rancheros - tomatoes, onion, chilli and coriander or paprika to taste with an egg or two. Quite filling and about 200-300 cals depending on how many eggs.

I'm a bit addicted to wraps with chicken breast and loads of salad in. Chuch a bit of sweet chilli sauce on to make it more interesting (coriander is nice with this too).

Stir fry without the noodles (add extra beansprouts instead) is good. You can add whatever veg you want, and just lean chicken/beef/salmon etc. 300 ish cals.

Actually - anything that's lean protein, and all the fruit and veg you can eat with no processed crap and you'll be fine. Limit sugar. It's a bastard.

Fish, fish and more fish!!!

Low fat cottage cheese or extra light Philadelphia with ryvita

Quorn sausages

Vegetables and most fruit

Poached or boiled eggs

Anything sugary or oily will be full of calories, same with bread, cheese, processes foods etc. Basically all the things that I used to eat constantly. Blush
