For those of us who have been here since the beginning, these are the last two weeks. And it seems like a good idea to finish with a couple of strict weeks, seeing as there has been a fair amount of slippage!

For anyone who wants to join - you are more than welcome! These two weeks will get you off to a great start if you are wanting to lose some weight.

So. Who wants to sign up for two weeks of strict Bootcamp? If you want to join/continue, put your name on the list and we can see who is there. We have a fabulous Spreadsheet of Marvellousness to track weight/weight loss, which I will also post a link to.

Here are the rules - for carnivores and then the veggie version:

The Carnivore Rules

1.Eat three, proper meals a day.
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food
Focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs. Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. You can have them, but just not every day. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Eat lots of fat.
Eating fat helps you to burn fat. Honestly! Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though, as this is too sweet), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ?
This is where your carbs should come from, and this is non-negotiable. But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list. You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

*5.Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited). It can impede weight loss for some people. If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but don't overdo it. Full fat yoghurt is the best way to include dairy in your diet - but beware, it does contain carbs. Total Full Fat is the best.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink.

7.No alcohol
If you really can't do this - at least try and restrict it to the weekend. Vodka with soda is the best thing to drink. Or Champagne, red wine or dry white wine.

8.No fruit
Really. Seriously. Honestly. None at all. Zilch. Nada.

9.No nuts/seeds
Whilst these are really good to snack on later - it can be too easy to start snacking on these - and before you know it, all your carbs have gone on nuts. Seriously - in bootcamp - don't do it to yourself.

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

Allowed veg

Don?t eat any veg unless it?s on this list, and try and focus on eating those that are under 3g carbs per 100g:

Veg (raw)Carbs per 100g
Mushrooms0.4
Watercress0.4
Spinach0.8
Celery0.9
Broccoli1.1
Asparagus 1.4
Cucumber1.5

Fennel1.8
Courgettes1.8
Cauliflower1.9
Avocado flesh1.9
Turnip2
Pumpkin2.2
Runner beans2.3
Swede2.3
Celeriac2.3
Bean sprouts2.5
Green pepper2.6
Baby sweetcorn2.7 (there is some debate about this - carb counts seem to vary according to variety and where you buy from - check the packet to be sure)
Aubergine2.8
Leeks2.9
Okra3
Tomato3.1
Mangetout3.3
Shallots3.3
Brussels sprouts3.5
French beans4.7
Cabbage5
Yellow pepper5.3
Carrots6
Orange or red pepper6.4
Ginger (peeled)7.2
Butternut squash7.5
Onions7.9

Veggie Rules

Only slightly adapted from BIWI's but best to take notice of the changes if you're vegetarian.

Focus on pure, natural ingredients as the basis for your meals. Vegetarian Sausages and Burgers are ok in small quantities, but check the carb count as some can be very high. Avoid foods marketed as 'Low Carb' such as Atkins Daybreak Bars, etc.

Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salads with your food ?
This is where most of your carbs should come from, and this is non-negotiable.

8.No fruit
Really. Seriously. Honestly. None at all. Zilch. Nada.

9.Beware of Nuts and Seeds.
Nuts are a very good way to include more fat and protein in your diet, however some are very high carb (e.g. Cashews). Stick to small amounts of Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Dried Coconut, Walnuts, Seeds and Peanut Butter, but check the ingredients, many supermarket brands have sugar added.

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

Just weighed in and have STS. Bit disappointed as feel thinner and have done a lot of swimming last week (4 miless!) Still, onwards and downwards, eh?

I'd like to lose 3lbs in the next 2 weeks (or indeed I'd like to lose something!)

Hope Tuesday is going well for you all all.

BIWI · 17/07/2012 08:26

You may well be slimmer, sybil - the scales don't always reflect weight loss!

Onwards and downwards, as you say.

mummyduff · 17/07/2012 08:27

Well done Heartstart that must be a huge weight of your shouldersSmile

What a shame Zimbo.

Sharon I used to do shred its fab and really works, I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you think.

I weighed in this morning and have lost 2lbs, cant believe itShock

0TTers · 17/07/2012 08:41

Gaah! Gained a pound Sad

You will now see the strictest bootcamp attendee here now.

0TTers · 17/07/2012 08:42

Have been reading the four hour body and the thermodynamics thing made sense to me so think I may sort out my bikini line (eek) and go swimming tonight. Local pool is always glacial so should shiver off a good bit of fat there.

0TTers · 17/07/2012 08:43

That was to Sybil btw

Slinks off to take children to school

BIWI · 17/07/2012 08:46

Pine nuts, according to the Carblife carb counter, are 4g carbs per 100g - so I should imagine that the amount you would be using would be negligible. But weigh them first, just to be on the safe side! What veg are you having with the salmon?

Good going, mummyduff!

I've just got back from the gym. My trainer seems to have decided that it's time for even more brutal stuff. I'm now doing interval training on the cross trainer, at level 12. 15 seconds as fast as I can, with a 30 second 'rest' (!) x 6. And the cross trainer was set to random, so some of those were going up a hill!

[dying emoticon]

jan2011 · 17/07/2012 08:50

ohh i love those interval workouts they are a killer but they feel awesome! im going to try to go to the class again this week - it was body attack and it was hardcore!

i dropped a kilo. i don't get it. i thought i would have maintained - i am pleased though. i would like to drop another couple of kilos i have a spare tyre round my waist - or at least tone up my waist.

BIWI · 17/07/2012 08:53

I've been doing them on the bike (initially 20 second + 10 seconds rest, x 8 and more recently 30 seconds with 30 seconds rest x 10), and have started to do them on the rower as well (20 seconds as far as I can + 10 seconds rest x 8).

I wasn't expecting to do it at level 12 on the cross trainer as well as on the bike though!

Good for you on the kilo! And we're still only Tuesday! Smile

HIIT is my worst nightmare (I'm looking at you jillian Michaels)

Will have only a mere sprinkle of pine nuts, promise. I'm also going to try the courgette 'pasta' so will look for instructions on Internet but if anyone has any top tips I'd be grateful.
Don't know if it's because I allowed myself artificial sweeteners and red wine last week, but I really crave dirty carbs right now.

jan2011 · 17/07/2012 09:33

i love courgettes my dd does too - wonder if dh would notice the difference if i gave him courgette pasta haha

biwi ive never done it on bike just the treadmill! the rower sounds hard though i have always felt knackered at the lowest settings.

Shimbo · 17/07/2012 09:44

Creamtea I am no expert but from my experience I would say that you are needing some more salt. Maybe try some bovril/chicken stock as a drink like others have suggested? Or the Lo-salt on your food?

obrigada · 17/07/2012 09:47

Singing, getting weighed by a friend who has "proper" scales, and the only time she can do it is this evening!

toysoldiers · 17/07/2012 09:52

Can I join?

I think I'm a bit of a carb addict so this is going to be hard.

I literally have NO idea what you are supposed to eat Blush.

So all meal suggestions great fully received.

I'm 13st 2lbs Sad

Jacaqueen · 17/07/2012 09:54

Day one didn't really get off to a good start for me.

I am the queen of self sabotage.

Who goes on holiday for 2 weeks, avoids all sorts of lovely tempting food and drink, only puts on 3lbs, has a perfect low carb Sunday when they had given themselves permission to be a bit relaxed, and then on DAY 1 of 2 week BBC eats all sorts of crap?

Me that is who.

Does anyone have the number of a good psychologist.

I disgust myself at times I really do.

mummyduff · 17/07/2012 09:55

OMG BIWI I think I would have fell off the cross trainer at the endGrin

Well done Jan.

Jins · 17/07/2012 10:03

creamtea1 I find when I'm low carbing that my body seems to know what it wants so I guess there's something in Pork Scratchings that you need

The Mr Porky brand contains Pork Rind, Pork Fat, Salt, Flavour Enhancer: Monosodium Glutamate, Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein, Rusk (Wheatflour, Salt), Dextrose, Colours: Paprika Extract, Ammonia Caramel.

My guess is salt Grin

Having said that I get irrational cravings for some foods as well - currently in desperate need of garlic and herbs Philedelphia but there's only the low fat version locally

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 17/07/2012 10:05

I keep getting hungry in the evenings. Why, oh why? I eat cheese or berries with cream or Greek yoghurt, usually, at about 9.30 after DD goes down.

Yesterday: B: Greek yoghurt and blueberries, cup of tea with full-fat milk
Early lunch: Maybe a third of a can of tuna, with mayo, grated cheese, a tablespoon of coleslaw and a bit of chopped tomato and cucumber.

Late lunch: Low-carb cottage pie (cauliflower mash)
Dinner: Duck breast fried with a bit of gluten-free soy sauce, pak choi and cabbage and sesame seeds
Snacks: 2 more cups of tea, cheese, 3 BabyBels, blueberries and cream, cucumber slices and 4 cherry toms

BIWI · 17/07/2012 10:12

Hmm. Not sure, TooImmature - how carby do you think your day is though?

There are carbs in your blueberries, milk in your tea, don't know how much in the coleslaw, but could be higher than you think, and then tomatoes.

Plus the carbs in the cottage pie/cauli mash, pak choi and cabbage.

It could be that you're eating too many carbs.

There's also an awful lot of dairy in your day. Not that I think this would make you more hungry, but it could impede weight loss - just keep an eye on that.

creamtea - I don't know why you would crave salt! But ditch those pork scratchings - honestly - just look at the ingredients. And we're trying to avoid artificial ingredients on Bootcamp! Why not try roasting a piece of pork so that you end up with a big piece of crackling? Sainsbury's have pork joints on offer at half price at the moment. You will be able to make a lovely roast dinner and have some fabulous, natural, crackling afterwards.
