Anyone want to pal up on mfp?

cinnamongreyhound · 21/08/2012 23:00

Well done all!!

My friend couldn't make it today so managed another pb 27m 12s!! Did circuits training at running club yesterday so felt a bit stiff after my run but ok now :)

I'm on mfp rusmum, same name as here so feel free to add me. I've lost 5st 5 and I'm maintaining at the moment but still logging daily :)

Bloody wow cinnamon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have added you x

feelingfull · 22/08/2012 00:08

cinnamongreyhound - 5st 5 bloody amazing!!

How long have you been doing this?

cinnamongreyhound · 22/08/2012 00:16

I started cutting down on calories in November and started the c25k in January, then joined mfp in feb which is a fab way to calorie count. I am now 9st 8 and happy, plus running 3 times a week which I now love!!! I think running has helped weightloss but it only burns 300+ calories a run so without cutting down on food I wouldn't have lost anywhere near what I have. Now need to get rid of the spare skin :(

sagelynodding · 22/08/2012 08:57

cinnamon that is an amazing amount of weight to lose! I bet you feel brilliant!
I have just got under the 12stone barrier, with ideally another stone to lose. Unfortunately I am still full of cold so I wont be running for a couple more days :(

feelingfull · 22/08/2012 09:03

sagely you sound as if you are doing amazing well as well.

I really want to keep at this. Planning to head out at lunchtime today.

sagelynodding · 23/08/2012 08:18

feeling I wish this bloody cold would go away so I can get back out there! But honestly I would just have a massive coughing fit and collapse if I ran anywhere today!
Monday morning, 6am I will be up and at em :)

systemsaddict · 23/08/2012 14:19

Hello, can I join too? I did the Race for Life walking this year (actually, walking and carrying a 4 year old for most of the way Hmm) which made me think that if I start training now I might just be able to run it next summer.

Had my very first treadmill session this morning at the gym - the very swish machine kept flashing "Warning, heart rate is high" on the screen, so I think I am some way off being fit atm!! (that and about 3 stone overweight ... is it still baby weight if the baby is about to start primary school?)

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2012 16:50

Welcome systemsaddict of course you can join! I think that running 5k in a years time is easily doable! It took me a few months after completing the c25k to be able to run 5k in less than 30 mins but was running 3 times a week straight after and just built up speed. If it makes you feel any better I am no longer overweight but my heart rate is regularly over what should be the maxiumum heart rate for my age and I always come out the other side fine. My heart rate drops pretty quickly when I've finished and I think that's a better indicator of fitness :)

Hope you are better soon sagelynodding!

Not been able to get out due to the bank holiday. Really hope that my routine slots back in next week Sad

AuntieBulgaria · 27/08/2012 10:19

I had a very similar Race for Life this year systemaddict: carrying a 4 year old! And during wk3r1 (NHS c25k) today I was also wondering about joining the joggers/runners next year.

I ran for 3 minutes without dying today. Hooray. And I love how energetic it makes me feel if I run first thing.

sagelynodding · 27/08/2012 10:39

Just checking in! Was supposed to run w2r2 this morning, but I messed up on my phone and ended up doing w1r1 :) I am a fool! Back out tomorrow to do it properly.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/08/2012 17:48

Sounds like you'll both be running a race for life soon :)

I went out from my caravan last night, we roughly scouted out the area so I knew there was a path to run on so just went to 15 mins and turned around, keeping to the main road as I don't know the area at all. Was nice :)

finally did w7r3 today and finally did 25 minutes without stopping!! Same route and w7r2, and done in about the same time, just didn't stop to walk. :) happy bunny :)

geranium72 · 29/08/2012 14:32

Hi-may I join you??

I started Monday and staggered through it but found it really tough going

Did wk 1 run2 today in the drizzle at the park and found it a lot better (apart from my crazy dog trying to chase birds and pulling me around!) - the 60 seconds seemed more manageable

I can't believe I am already starting to feel a little bit of a buzz from this and planning my next one

Please tell me you all started off finding it tough and "running" at the speed of a very old very asthmatic pit pony???

systemsaddict · 29/08/2012 14:43

Thanks for welcomes! Slightly scuppered by 2 days of intense bottom / hip pain (sacro-iliac??) after my first treadmill experiences last week, but I was back in the gym yesterday morning; just went on a different machine until it settles down again. I really want to do this but will have to take it very slowly! Not a new thing for my hip to play up and I think I will be able to train round it, but will have to be v. v. careful.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2012 07:17

Well done Em3978! The end is in sight!!!!

Welcome Geranium72, I was very slow to begin with! It's not about speed but getting through each session and completing the plan, speed comes later :)

Ive done two runs whilst on holiday, both were good and were home tomorrow morning so I guess that'll be it!

Hi everyone!

so good to see you all still at it!
and new c25k-ers too!

i have been lurking..and hiding! it has been impossible to keep up the running schedule over the holidays, with family visits, visitors, holiday, weddings, kids, bad weather...non stop olympic viewing... etc etc!
also have not been logging my food in mfp, but trying to be careful and actually managed to lose 1lb, - didnt put any weight on! yay & phew!

i am going to start logging on mfp again and hopefully start runnning again...soon. Strange i cant believe i used to jog, but when i jog i cant believe that i didnt jog in the past. iykwim!

so i'll probably be lurking on here looking for inspiration! probably have to build up my running from 5-10 mins up again though.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/09/2012 20:04

Pretty sure today was my longest run time wise, 37 mins- not sure of distance :(

I am returning to C25K and wanted to join a thread with like minded people.

I started C25k in September 2011 and completed it in November 2011 whilst being in early pregnancy.

Bump is now DD3 and five weeks old and I am restarting C25K. I started on Week 5 Run 1, which I found very tough but doable, so I'm going to repeat W5R1 for the next couple of runs and see how I feel.

systemsaddict · 05/09/2012 09:48

Hello again - updating, saw personal trainer at the gym yesterday and talked about programme to get running without setting off back / hip pain, she is going to start me off on what she called a 'light' run / walk (probably about week -4 Grin) plus stretches and bodyweight stuff to open up and strengthen around my dodgy hip. First session with her Monday, will let you know how it goes ...

cinnamongreyhound · 05/09/2012 16:58

Hi Babieseverywhere! Amazing you're starting with a 5 week old!

That sounds good systemsaddict.

Was supposed to go on my first proper timed 5k tonight but I have been really poorly with a sickness bug and definitely not up to it :(. Just about managed to walk to school and back for ds1's first day in year 1!

OP posts:
feelingfull · 07/09/2012 21:02

Hope you're feeling better cinnamon!

Its getting dark earlier. Does anyone run at night? Am I stressing too much about the darkness?
